Cui Bono - A principle that probable responsibility for an act or event lies with one having something to gain

Baginski: “9/11 is a gift to NSA. … We are going to get all the money we want”

The new book Watchdogs Didn’t Bark by John Duffy and Ray Nowosielski, reports that former NSA executive and whistleblower Thomas Drake said that former NSA Signals Intelligence Director (#3 at NSA) Maureen Baginski told a group of more than 50 staff just weeks after the 9/11 attacks, the worst intelligence failure in US history since Pearl Harbor, leaving almost 3000 dead: “You have to understand, 9/11 is a gift to NSA. … We are going to get all the money we want” (112–113).

"I hate to say this and would never say this in public, but 9/11 had its benefits. We never would have gone into Afghanistan and started this war without it. There just was not the national will." - As told by a senior Pentagon official to Rowan Scarborough, in his book "Rumsfeld's War"

"The other day a reporter friend told me that one of the highest-ranking CIA officials had said to him, off the record, that when the dust finally clears, Americans will see that September 11 was a triumph for the intelligence community, not a failure." - Former CIA field officer Robert Baer, from his book "See no Evil"

And of course we now have the permanent "war on terror", funding the Pentagon at more than $1/2 trillion each and every year, committing endless genocide and other human rights atrocities under pretext of 9/11. And new "laws" that make every single American a suspected terrorist subject to warrantless spying, indefinite detention, loss of Habeas Corpus and many other violations of civil rights absent due process, guaranteed by the Constitution and more specifically the Bill of Rights. YOUR taxpayer dollars at work.

Yes, the events of 911 were a boon to various federal bureaucracies. It was responsible for the creation of the Orwellian sounding Department of Homeland Security.

Cui bono is the intelligent question.

This link shows that one Pentagon staffer had prior knowledge of the precise location of the strike there, and related that information to NBC's reporter, page 78
