I'm not the only one who realizes this "reality" TV thing is fake? I saw Chantell on a TV police series and Geoffrey in the film, "Southern Gothic".
Almost all "reality" shows are fake. I used the word "almost" in case there might be something out there that isn't staged, but I'm doubtful.
I heard someone say that many "stories" we watch are based on actual events but the target audience can't accept it so it's easier to write them as fiction. I find it funny because that means what we think of as a "fantastic story" is actually more real than the "reality" shows.
Sure. Apparently the Fargo movie was based on a true story of someone running their wife through a wood chipper and the way they were eventually caught.
I do see that when someone in these reality shows does something and you're thinking, "No one would do that!", it's because no one would ... and no one did.
How does the motivation make it any less real? For instance, on the show "Bachelor" people agreed to be set up with a partner. The premise and contestants were vapid, but the resulting marriage was real.
"90 Day Fiance" are not contestants and they are not being "set up" with a partner. It is supposed to be cameras following them to meet and marry someone from abroad that they have already chosen themselves through the internet dating systems. No script, no actors (ha-ha) and only the tape-cutting floor the only intervention .... so they say.
I wasn't implying that "Bachelor" was like "90 Day Fiance". My question is how does the person's motivation make a situation any less real?
Well in the sense that you are implying they are scripted dramas, they are not fake, but like all reality shows, there are desperate people who will do anything to be on TV, and a production staff with lots of editing and suggestions. So it's just as "fake" as any other reality show.
There is definitely scripted dialogue. It has already been admitted. * "What about body massages by the pool?" * "How much money do I have to give you to return home to the Dominican Republic?" https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertai...cripted-edited-unfairly-overly-produced.html/
Dr. Pimple Popper is all done with cgi and photoshop on a soundstage in the Arizona desert. The "patients" are all crisis actors. You heard it here first.
