    In 2011, the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v/s Plata that California's prisons were so overcrowded that they violated the Constitution's prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment. Consequently, in early 2014, California was ordered to allow non-violent, second-time offenders who have served half of their sentence to be eligible for parole.

    its a fact.

    i did the research.

    they were ordered to cut the sentences in half for non-violent repeat felons.

    Harris did not like the idea of releasing criminals onto her streets

    If their sentence was cut in half then that was their sentence wasn't it?

    Did she keep them in cages for longer then that?

    Do you have any idea of the cost to taxpayers to incarcerate someone? If they were no longer considered a threat to society, then why not let them out and become productive citizens? It's a win-win for the taxpayers and for the former prisoners as well.

    Their sentences were actually cut in half not extended. Somebody wasted a lot of time with that picture. Wow!

    True, they were built during Obama to house kids that were unaccompanied by an adult to separate the boys from the girls while they were processed to be placed with Human Services.
    They were used under Trump to separate children from their parents. Indefinitely.

    There are a long list of issues conservatives pretend to care about for political reasons - budget deficits, debt, Presidential behaviour, women's rights, treating allies well, sexual behaviour, competence & qualification for government jobs, the constitution, the law....and many more.

    This latest one is so transparent it is funny. These are the people who cheered when Joe Arpiao made inmates live in tents, eat spoiled food and work in chain gangs. Now they want to pretend that they care about how prisoners are treated. They must think people are as stupid as they are.

    If there's a human element involved stop blaming the cages that were existing before Trump became president on Trump. How simple is that?

    Hint: If you responded why didn't Trump get rid of the cages we could have a discussion.
