Sean Fraser having spent quite a bit of time in the province of Alberta is in a special position to play an ambassadorial role between Ottawa with the province of Alberta who seems to me to have an all time high level of support for Alberta leaving Canada and joining the USA. We always have to remember the context of the Malthusian admonition. It was crafted in a time with little exposure to science or technology, and is a rather myopic description of the age in which Malthus was alive. He rather never accepted that anything might improve or otherwise expand what he saw as limits in the land, food production, and ability of both to support more than what he felt was optimal. The who model was and remains today to be a myopic utopian ideal that doesn't ever accept improvement. The marriage of Malthus and Darwinism gave spawn to the horrors of Eugenics. We can't allow that observation to be expunged from the social conscience. For those who spout it now, their modern message transforms into the modern plantation where only their lofty ideals and goals have value, and the public suffer at their pleasure.
If Canada doesn't get its people vaccinated and its borders open soon, they are going to become a third world nation. It is a tragic failure that so few front-line medical workers are fully vaccinated there at this point in the game, let alone the general population. Instead of sending doses to Mexico, the US needs to be sending it to Canada so we don't have paupers on both sides of us.
