So, if you want to void the 2nd Amendment, what is there to protect the rest of your Rights and the Constitution. Of course, for some, they don't care, they would love to see government rule for everything. Are you one of them?

Yes, but the question I was answering was why was he carrying a gun at the baby shower, not why did he shoot someone with it. My point was that he was just exercising his constitutional right up to the point the actual shooting. If he hadn't shot anyone, his carrying a gun wouldn't have raised any comment.

 

You do not need to be shot at, to claim self defense. Such a defense was used by Zimmerman, who shot and killed a child,... a child Zimmerman followed by car and later chased down on foot like a sexual predator.

 

I think the odds are high that Hampton was already a prohibited person.

 

If people don't like the stereotypes that they fit into, then quit fitting into that stereotype. I don't think it racist to make fun of a certain stereotype. In this case, a man shooting people that give him presents. Similarly, those on the left don't have a problem making fun of Southern white people, or rich white people, or white gun owners, or white Christians. That doesn't make them racist, it just means that they simply pre judge those people based on their stereotype. Some would call that prejudiced and I would agree. That doesn't necessarily make them racists. I would think that people would make fun of this guy if he shot his friends and family for giving him presents.

There is an easy way for liberals to limit their buying of guns. But they want to limit others buying guns. See how that logic works. I can protect myself from liberal posts, but I want to protect others from liberal posts.

We all have our wants and desires. Legislation is to try and find balance so we can all enjoy what we call freedom. But freedom doesn't mean we get to do anything we want. Where that line in the sand is drawn is always the debate. The second amendment does not necessarily guarantee everyone can own any gun, and as many as they want. The 2A is fairly vague, and the interpretations vary. My opinion is that it is outdated, it doesn't address the modern age of weaponry.

As an aside, what is the issue with the number of guns a person owns? Why do you propose a person be limited to an arbitrary number and what would that number be?

Then again, legal gun owners aren't the problem in America. The problem is illegal gun possessors.

 

The "child" had mounted Zimmerman MMA style and per the witness was executing a MMA style ground and pound, (there was a witness) i.e., a viscous attack. So yes, it was a case of self defense. BTW, more people are killed each year with punches and kicks than AR-15s.

There are lots of ways to die. Guns are way down the list. For instance one is twelve times as likely to be either stabbed or beaten to death than killed by someone with an assault type rifle. TWELVE TIMES! As for the second amendment and modern guns, do you think the first amendment considered cell phones, modern printing machines, satellites and the internet with numberless lies zipping around the earth in perpetuity at light speed, stirring riots, wars and general dissent?
