"The UK needs a bolder and stronger armed forces prepared to use "hard power" or risk being seen as a "paper tiger", the defence secretary will say. Gavin Williamson will warn in a speech that Britain must stand up to those who "flout international law". I can't think of any countries who are 'flouting international law' - apart from the US, France, and the UK invading Syria? "The defence secretary won an extra £1.8bn for defence in the last budget. With the boundaries between peace and war becoming "blurred" - particularly by Russia and China, he will claim - Mr Williamson will say Britain and its allies had to be ready "to use hard power to support our interests"." So how can a proactive Defence Secretary double up on a £1.8bn government grant to fight a baddass enemy such as (yawn) Russia? Why it's so simple, invent another badass enemy such as China? The continued backward looking imperial hubris and future make believe of certain elements of the British ruling elite should be seen as quite comic ---- were it not for the fact that they are still able to stir up considerable trouble and wreak deaths around the world. I' like to see how Blighty is able to "stand up to those who flout international law" (including themselves... Julian Assange and Integrity Iniative being clear examples) when the days comes when they are not militarily backed by the USA and NATO. All this is, is Gavin Williamson engaged in a bout of cottaging by willy waving in a public toilet.
He even looks like a chinless wonder straight down from Oxbridge? lol 'when they are not militarily backed by the USA and NATO.' Exactly SH, this is how low we've come. A bit like an old prostitute hankering after the days when she was the most in demand on her patch, but now pitied - or laughed at. Pathetic, truly pathetic!
