A Presidential press conference ... or not

Those who really know the real Donald Trump all say one thing. For forty years Donald Trump lived in the tabloids world. When someone in the tabloids took a punch at Trump...Trump quickly countered punched harder.

Trump is a heavy weight puncher.

Even Newt Gingrich touches on it in his latest book, "Understanding Trump."

Donald Trump has been around opining on politics, the economy, globalization, trade, immigration, wars and America for over forty years.
Last year PF member U.S. Conservative posted a video over an hour long of clips from Trump interviews going back when Reagan was President.

What Trump was saying back in 1986, the 90's and the 2000's haven't changed . He's still saying the same things he has for the past forty years.

More and more, faced with a devastating article about Trump doing something really stupid, Trumpians react with jokes or a cartoon. They think they are being funny, not realizing how foolish they look.

Their inability to defend their hero says a lot about their hero ... and them.

Some are beginning to realize their mistake.

 

Obama held seven Presidential press conferences his first year in office. He faced the White House press corps in the press room.

Fact, Trump is scared to death of facing the White House press corps in that setting. Fact, the last time he did that (February) it was disaster. Those facts are undeniable.

You are defending Trump's behavior! You want a President who hides from the public. You like a President who holds limited news conferences on the White House lawn!

Jeez, man, you are something.

One of these days you will actually defend your hero rather than attack me. I am not holding my breath.

The truth is, after months of posts, you have proven you are incapable of defending Trump from my criticism. Why? I use Trump's decisions, statements, and tweets as a basis for my criticism. It is hard to fight that.

 

You wouldn't know the truth if you saw it and it came with sworn documentation. By the time your bias overhauls reality in your head, there is no resemblance- and you think people should argue your "points" on your terms with your rules. Like I said, you are a Heckler in the audience and I have yet to see any intention of contributing anything of value- just cause more rancor and public discontent. Why would anyone help you do that?

I asked you to tell us what Trump has done right.... seems you are oblivious to that as well. "Cocooned in your own bias" was an appropriate description.

Please provide proof of what you stated twice is fact. I believe that to be incorrect and you're making assumption and calling it fact.

Let's be real. Why on earth would Trump hold a press conference? The MSM colluded with Hillary and the DNC to provide him tons of air time and boost him among conservatives so he would come out on top. They estimated he would be easiest of all the candidates for Hillary to beat, so they fixed the election far worse than the Russians could have. They worked together to provide him many hours of airtime no other candidate received. They pumped the guy at every opportunity. What he didn't know at the time was they were building him up on purpose because they KNEW they could squash him in the primary. Only they didn't. Their trojan horse stomped them all out and he lived to treat them accordingly. He treats them precisely like the garbage they are. They did it, they did it on purpose, and they got caught. Now they lie in a bed of anger brought on by the very man they intended to cast aside in their fixed election. Hillary was so awful she could win a FIXED election! And now they put about not getting time with him, not getting to have press conferences, and not getting extra ammo to use against him. Oh, the poor media. So picked on.

 

Trumps holds another noisy news conference, this time with a waterfall providing the background. What is it with Trump and his noisy news conferences? In Washington he prefers the White House lawn with Marine One churning away. He really is strange. Does he have mental disorder? It would seem so.

 

The fact is Trump has not held a press conference in front of the White House press corps in the press room since February. That is proof that he is concerned about press conferences. He holds news conferences on the White House lawn with Marine One providing the background, or a faulty sound system in a fire station in West Palm Beach, or in front of waterfall on a golf course. What does that tell you?

By all accounts, his February press conference was a disaster because he got angry and lost control. Instead of answering reporters' questions, he tried to shut them up. He showed Presidential pettiness by verbally attacking reporters. He made himself look stupid by singling out every major news source -- CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, the Times, and the Post -- and told them they were all lying and they provided fake news. If that isn't a disaster, I don't know what is. Of course, his base loved it. They don't expect Trump to act Presidential. His base wants him to act like an idiot.

At the February press conference, Trump didn't disappoint.

You are fairly certain that he is guilty of obstruction of justice and probably collaboration with a hostile foreign power. It tells me that you think Trump would not be able to stand up to the scrutiny of savvy reporters in an open setting. It tells me you prefer Trump to hold news conferences in a noise-filled environment and a controlled environment where he consistently breaks off the questioning and simply leaves. It tells me you know Trump is a weak President who would not be able to control his own press conference. It tells me you prefer a President who hides from the public.

On the surface, Trump pretends he is a transparent President. He tweets like a mad man to his followers, appears on television nearly everyday, and is not the least bit bashful about making statements. Indeed, his lawyers want him to shut up and they would love to take his phone away. He purposely makes outlandish statements and lies constantly to draw attention to himself, something he craves.

But all of this happens in a controlled setting. Trump controls every second of his appearances in front of the public. At his noise-filled news conferences where questions are mostly inaudible, Trump walks away whenever he feels like it. If a reporter asks a question he doesn't like, he simply ignores it.

Strangely enough, people like you, Robert, spiritgide, and Bears like this in a President.

He acted as a person who knows the very people complaining about him are the ones who lied, manipulated and attempted to screw him. He owes them nothing in return.

It shouldn't have told you any of those things since I don't think any of them. He's not participating in filling their coffers by giving them anything. They screwed up and he's making them pay. I find it quite genius myself and liberals everywhere can't stop crying about it, acting as if they forgot how unethical the very media they so love really is.

That's why it's genius. He gets even with them every day by doing absolutely nothing. That's the entire point of the lack of press conferences.

I voted for him as an act to NOT vote for Hillary. I'm not a big Trump fan, but I know the details of why he hates the media so strongly. They were caught red handed and now have never relented from trying to tear him apart because they know he'll never play along. It's just funny to me. I personally despise the media as well and have for years been telling my parents how horrible MSNBC, CNN and Fox are, but they won't listen. Now they hear more sides of it and can actually see why I was right all along. Trump is just making that same information mainstream so others can come to realize how awful the media is and how biased they have always been on both sides.

 

So, Trump is everything you hate and has done nothing right. Thus- it is impossible for you to see anything in rational balance, and indeed- no one can help you with that, it is your cocoon and tight as a drum. Self-made, too.

 

The above comment seems like a frustrated effort to criticize Trump. The reality is, the media is mostly biased against Trump and will do anything they can to show him in a bad light. Trump knows it and he strategically won't give them the opportunity. The lying dishonest media really is the enemy of the American people. I'm hoping & waiting for the day when Trump declares WAR on the 6 corporate media monopolies that own most of the media in the entire USA and breaks them up into 600 smaller companies.

In the meantime, I say: "Go Trump! Don't give the media outlets that have a track record of dishonest reporting any opportunity to use your own words against you. Tweet, tweet, tweet and let them chase their tails over after the bones you throw them."
