On paper the way we elect people for positions in the U.S. Government works well. But in practice there's a problem. The problem I'm speaking about is the fact that as a citizen of the U.S., a person can only realistically vote for one of two parties (Democratic and Republican), try voting for another party and it's considered a waste of a vote.

Approval voting changes that. To put it simply, approval voting is similar to a multiple choice test. You can select as many party candidates as you like. In this case your vote isn't wasted due to the fact that you can select a backup in case most people don't select your candidate of choice.

A few people and I are trying to push to get approval voting made the standard for U.S. elections. There's an Indiegogo campaign for a video on approval voting (there's only a bit over a day left though). I won't link to it lest I be accused of spam.

I've had a plan that might work to push for approval voting. The current version of the plan I have requires working on three things in parallel.

    1. Non-violent demonstrations and ballot measures (in states that allow them) demanding that approval voting becomes the standard.

    2. Create a website where third parties can advertise themselves (basically short descriptions along with links to party websites).

    3. To get as many people to vote as possible, start an educational campaign for absentee voting.

I'd love to get some discussion going on this.

Multiple political parties does not lend itself well to our representative style of government. I would be very happy if we could first institute a full proof method of establishing an honest vote, particularly for national elections. In other words "One Person One Legal Vote". Our voting system, especially in the larger urban areas, has become has become more corrupt than most third world countries.

Because voter registration and voter montoring has become so lax and corrupt, we had millions of illegal votes that have made the Presidential as well as Senate and Congressional races bogus in many states. This current system is rampant with non-citizens, double voters, temporary interlopers, dead people voting because many voter lists don't get purged etc., it makes the whole system a sham. This was why we saw in excess of 90% voter turnout in many notoriously Democratic districts all over the country where ACORN and Projectvote.org have been entrenched since Obama came to power. Maybe we could at least do what they do in Iraq and thats dip your finger in unremovable ink as a start.

Currently the current ruling Democratic party goes balistic anytime you bring up this obvious cheating. I wonder why?

Let's start with this and then look into revamping our political party system.

I had a similar idea that i would like to see happen during the next presidential election.

I know for a fact there is NO democracy left in the us. it is already a totalitarian police state.

i propose, that everyone in the us should vote for a 3rd party candidate, 0 votes for democrats or republicans. then when the person we vote for does not get elected, we will ALL have the proof that this government is no longer run by the people.
