Not my fault you have never studied beyond what you have been told. If you had you would know that Ugarit language and theology was, is, important to understanding some of the Bible, like the Psalms. The god El is used throughout the Psalms and is distinguished from the god Yahweh - one of Els sons.. We only make sense pf some verses of the Psalms by using the Ugarit language. It is also probable that Ugarit 'Psalms/songs' cross-refer to the Bible Psalms.

I don't know. I'm Catholic, and my priest does promote this, as well as heaven and hell.

I have a question for the Christians out there. Let's say you've fully exercised your God Given right to keep and bear arms. Now comes the time to use those arms. Your on the firing line, gleefully mowing down the enemies of Jesus!!. But, alas, your down to your very last round. At your 9 o'clock is a Muslim, at 3 your o'clock is a homosexual. Who would Jesus want you to use that last round on?

Neither, He harmed nobody, unlike the bloody 'prophet'. He only sadly walked away from those who refused His message, like you.

According to the fairy tale, when Jesus returns he will kill all life forms and blow up the planet. He is not a nice guy.

    Hahahahaha

If there is no heaven and there is no hell.....it means the Bible lied!

Why on earth will anyone still consider Christianity?

To a point, many live out heaven while still on earth. Likewise, there are many live out hell and couldn't imagine it any worse. The "Kingdom of God" is in effect here and now. All are invited. If you deny Jesus told us "I go and prepare a place for you, if it were not true I would have told you"., it would still be worthwhile to live the Christian life.

"The Kingdom of God is not meat nor drink but righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit"

Of course they don't. Here is the point. Remove liberty, the chance to exercise choice, instill a brutal regime, and the only crimes committed are those committed by government. You'll never hear about them. Christianity grants liberty and choice.

It would be difficult to pose a more inane, meaningless question than you just did. Think about it.

Which one is the greater threat to the innocent??? What an inane, baiting question you impose. Only deserves another question.

I am an evangelist Believer. In my life I have attended regularly 4 different Churches and several Bible studies. I would hold in favor all of them. In one, we did a study on Heaven. I have never heard one Sermon in those gatherings that promoted the idea of heaven or hell as a motivation but rather the love that God has shown us through the work of Jesus Christ.

You are in no doubt correct. Jesus did speak of hell, yet throughout the message of the Gospel, that is by no means the emphasis. As I have said before and I'll repeat it, there are hurting and broken souls here on earth that believe their lives could get no worse and experience hell in the here and now. Why would they worry about hell after death? .......They are ones Jesus came for. I would not bother those that want to control so I would not Google hell. Rather I would do my own research and study the scripture. Everyone wants to do and know about what others are doing. I just want to know what God is doing. The Gospel is called so because it means "Good News". Why is it good? It takes a little introspection to find out and many don't want to do it. It is available.

The foundation you point to is all about legitimizing certain "behaviors". I don't understand how that has anything to do with liberty. How 'bout a foundation for those that lie, or steal?? How 'bout a foundation for those that like sex with dead animals?.....they don't hurt anyone! (so you might believe)

Certain behaviours? These are human beings - not animals. I don't understand any of it. But I do know they have only one life to live and that they do no harm if left alone. How would you feel if you were one of them. Legitimizing nature. That's a new one on me. These 'certain behaviours' have been with man from early civilsations. Sometimes banned, sometimes allowed. If you believe god created man, then he created these people. Only Christianity believes in original sin, so don't tell me that man fell with mythical Adam. Man is responsible for his own sins.

These people, much to your displeasure, have as much right to enjoy life as you.

Yes, I agree, it was not Jesus emphasis
But, to an extent, that is my point!

That point being ....why would a relatively minor preaching from Jesus... be reinterpreted into a MAJOR ISSUE by so many evangelists? Is there a rationale for this shift in emphasis? Imo, yes. the “carrot and stick” are well known human motivators. What bigger carrot and stick motivators than heaven and hell? If you want to recruit converts... threaten them with hell, and promise them eternal life in heaven. It’s a better deal than the Roman gods offered!

    ok,
    without comment

I never once called them animals, tell me how you got that? They ARE human beings, I believe created higher than the animals. If nothing else....they do spiritual harm to one another as well as trying to justify "behavior" that is detrimental to the culture. God created these people but not the "behavior" with which they choose to be identified. I tell you these things not to be judgmental. All men and women are Created in the image of God. God has male and female attributes. Not male and male or female and female. It is easily explained but , I realize, not readily received by the worldly system. You seem to reject God's authority and His Word. I feel sad about that but it's your choice and you are free to do that of course.

The same reason they say you must be baptized in order to have Salvation....or that you must say a certain amount of Hail Mary's.... or you must confess your sins to a certain man (opposed to one another). Their are several burdens certain people put on others to justify their own shortcomings to give them the appearance of being on a higher moral platitude. Though Jesus did speak of "hell" several times, and without it, we would have no need for the Salvation He died for, I would suggest you search the scriptures for yourself. It seems you might have done so already to one degree or another. There are things I am certain of and others I still search for. The Holy Spirit is promised to be an active teacher for those that seek Him. Here's something I am contemplating..... When Jesus spoke of Hell and deliverance, perhaps He was referring partly to experiences we have here on earth. Eternally I'm sure hell is at the very least, separation from God. Jesus Himself experienced that the moment He died on earth. "My God My God, why have you forsaken me?" He, however rose from the dead and was restored. I can't imagine some of the experiences of the early disciples. All they had to do was renounce their faith in what they had witnessed and they would be spared. Some were burnt at the stake, crucified upside down, fed to lions, put in a hollow log and sawed in half. It was said Andrew was "flayed alive". It must have been HELL. I can't imagine much worse than some of those, however I know here on earth there are those in pain to the limits of their endurance. He is my Deliverer. I have experienced nothing like some of these, BUT I thought I had reached my limit a time or two. To sum it up.....some want to preach Hell to control your life. Love conquers all. Real love, not worldly love.

If God created them he created their 'behaviour'. It's in their 'make-up'.

    https://www.plannedparenthood.org/l...al-orientation/what-causes-sexual-orientation.

Similarly, someone born without an arm etc. They don't choose to be born that way. They can't choose to grow another arm.
Would you accept an invitation to tea from a Gay or Lesbian couple. If not, would that not be judgemental? Whatever way you put it you are being judgemental.

What is God's word? Most of the 'Mosaic' laws are taken from, or adapted from, earlier civilisations. You will find variations of these scattered throughout the ancient codes written long before the Bible. Scribes simply took these and assembled the' 'Mosaic' Law. The 10 Commandments are a form of contract that was known in ancient times between the 'King' and his people. 'You are my people- follow these commandments'. And most codes are attributed by the King to his god. In the case of Hammurabi - Marduk gave him his code.

they do spiritual harm to one another as well as trying to justify "behavior" that is detrimental to the culture. Isn't that judgemental on your part because of your beliefs.

I differ with you there. God is love. He created mankind for fellowship. You do not make "robots" for fellowship. You create something similar to yourself but you allow it choice. Without choice, there is no fellowship. It is written that God made mankind in His own image. From further reading, I understand a few things. God has both male and female attributes. Also God has a desire to create and He makes choices.....His choices are consistantly Holy. because that is His nature and it defines "Holines:.
We make choices also and the result is our "behavior". Don't try and saddle God with our "behavior". We make choices because out of "love" He made us free.
