A question for left wing college professors pushing socialism

That's when you whip out a piece of paper and write up some Candy Crowley Award for Discriminatory Judging award (crayon is preferable here). Hand it to the professor with a lot of fanfare before your rebuttal, and then continue on as if nothing was ever said.

 

If socialism is an inevitable failure, why did the US feel a need to embargo Cuba or actively try to drive Venezuela into bankruptcy by blocking foreign loans and engage in other programs to undermine and de-legitimize its government?

 

Okay, you obviously have no clue about the millions of people that have died under communist regimes. You know nothing about Pol Pot in Cambodia, Stalin, Mao Zedong, nothing nothing nothing.

My only advice is to do a bit of research, because we aren't here to educate you on common knowledge. That's something you are expected to bring to the table before hitting that "post reply" button.

 

None of those are Cuba or Venezuela though so any more straw men you want to bring to the table? How about the crusades? How about the genocide of the Native Americans? How about all those who have died in the perpetual wars for Big Oil.....oh wait, Venezuela has oil....the plot thickens

This is why "progressives" are regressive. Communism has an abysmal failure since its introduction. Tens of millions of more people have died brutally from Marx's Communist Manifesto than Hitler's Mein Kampf

Your post is both inaccurate and misleading--more akin to propaganda than fact. Socialism or "Democratic Socialism" as practiced in Sweden, Denmark, England, France, Germany, and several other advanced nations, doesn't attempt or strive, or claim to "make everyone equal." That's NOT the goal. Democratic Socialism encourages both capitalistic business ownership and entrepreneurship. There are billionaires in England, France, Germany, Sweden, etc., just as there are in the U.S. The big difference between Democratic Socialism and U.S. Capitalism is that under Capitalism the wealthy control it all, with little or no thought toward the welfare of the middle class or poor. Democratic Socialism protects the financially less fortunate by providing basic services to all citizens, such as individual and family health care. Democratic Socialism is Capitalism with a heart. It is much superior to the selfish, self-serving Capitalism of the U.S.

 

Marx was right about many things, but wrong on this. Socialism is NOT the road to Communism. In fact, they have little in common with each other.

But you have to RELY on an honest government. Capitalism works because if you don't make your customers happy, then you don't do a very good business. It does not have to rely on government. Capitalism is "self correcting."

Your contention that Castro gave the poor money is FALSE. The Castros are dictators who only call themselves President. What kept Cuba afloat for many years was the influx of Soviet money, and after Perestroika, Castro had to fend for himself.
