so will ending illegal immigration, but it seems you only favor removing rights from Americans, in this case more gun control. How about this for a new gun control. We keep guns out of the hands of illegals by keeping the illegal hands out of our country. Does that gun control measure sound acceptable to gun grabbers?

You seem to believe that us gun owners are out here just trading guns every week... your ignorance is showing again. The only guns that have changed hands that many times are made in the 1800s or are already in criminal hands...these aren't Pokemon cards...LOL.

You're the one that is clueless. Armslist is a marketplace for firearms, yes. Most of the sellers are dealers, so background check is required. Any firearms shipped from one state to another has to go through an FFL dealer, so again background check. If you found a person to person sale in a state that allowed it, then no background check...let me know if you find any...because they are few and far between.

There are millions and millions of guns in this country and we have no idea who they belong to. You must be kidding

I've already explained this once, so one more time...the govt tracks firearms from the manufacturer through the distributor to the FFL. With me so far?
Any new firearm must be sold through an FFL Dealer who is required to maintain records (4473s) for 20 years. So any modern firearm can be tracked to the original purchaser. Are you still following me?
So the govt can track the original purchaser fairly easily. If that person has sold the firearm to another citizen, then I would hope that they at least got their name, do, and address as well as a bill of sale with a signature. If they didn't then that is their own stupidity.

So let's take another route, suppose the govt funds a study that finds that violent video games are causing the violence in schools and society...then they wanted to make people be of service certain age to play or license to play...would you you for that?

I read the first section. You have no idea about current laws, and honestly, why should we listen to somebody that doesn't even know that the NICS background check for gun dealers is free. A federal gun registry is useless. There are approximately 300 million guns in current circulation. Based on Canada's experience with a long gun registry, and state experiences with "assault weapon" registries, it will be next to impossible to set up an all encompassing gun registry in this country.

Very rarely do non-criminal type people sell guns to people that are criminals. Why? Criminals seek out other criminals (and friends and relatives) to get guns, not a stranger at a gun show, etc. They don't want extra witnesses, and anybody you buy a gun from that isn't in the criminal life, is a witness.

Every time I've looked at Armslist, all I've seen is gun dealers selling guns and requiring an FFL at the other end to receive it and do a NICS check.

That is true, and it is why gun registration in this country would be next to impossible. I have guns that were bought by someone in my family decades before there was any paperwork involved in buying/selling ordinary firearms. There are at least 300 million guns in this country that are not registered.

Yeah, seriously! Their preferred response to anything is capitulation and cowardice. The thought of fighting back fills them with despair and horror.

Incorrect. Due process is applied prior to the violation of constitutional rights, not after the fact.

And precisely what are these available options, that make them comparable to the effectiveness of firearms?

Then what is the reason for why law enforcement officers continue to be supplied with firearms, if the above are just as effective as firearms? What possible need could they have for firearms if the other supplied implements are just as good for the purpose of defense?

Variations of that have been recommended by some, to include inducing vomiting to disgust the rapist, when in fact, it may not have the desired effect, some people used to advocate submission, to avoid harm during a rape, ignoring other dangers such as diseases, and perhaps getting killed anyway since rape is a crime inspired by violence.

In addition to firearms Ron, to supplement them, not as a replacement for firearms, which is what you imply.

And in New York City, is was for many years illegal for the Public to carry mace or other pepper sprays
Or any type of tazers or variations.

Cops only use the above when they have a gun for backup.

    The sidearm is the main,
Gasses and tazers are in a supplemental category, in cases of unarmed perpetrators.
