A timeless song by a group that I grew up listening to

Why can't we who love music also love GOD?

I truly enjoy the contributions made by all posters so far.

Pink Floyd always floors me no matter how long I listen to that group.

This may be one of the most timeless songs of all. It was included on the Golden Record on the Voyager space probe, which will travel through deep space for thousands if not millions of years.. It will almost certainly outlast the human race.

Blind Willie Johnson (January 25, 1897 – September 18, 1945) was an American gospel blues singer, guitarist and evangelist. His landmark recordings completed between 1927 and 1930—thirty songs in total—display a combination of powerful "chest voice" singing, slide guitar skills, and originality that has influenced generations of musicians.

... Willie's father had violently confronted Willie's stepmother about her infidelity, and during the argument she splashed Willie with a caustic solution of lye water, permanently blinding him.

...In 1945, his home was destroyed by a fire, but, with nowhere else to go, Johnson continued to live in the ruins of his house, where he was exposed to the humidity. He contracted malarial fever, and no hospital would admit him, either because of his visual impairment, as Angeline Johnson stated in an interview with Charters, or because he was black.[8] Over the course of the year, his condition steadily worsened until he died, on September 18, 1945.

What are you like 90?

 

I had never heard this song until the moment we landed in Peru. And this really set the tone. Peru is a magical place. Peru is a musical place. It doesn't take long before you feel the music there. It's like an energy. And the magical feeling of being there is inextricably linked to this song, for me.

Three of my personal favorites, my life ended almost 10 years ago and these became the theme songs for my new life. But they too are in the timeless category.
