Is that the limits of your exposure to social pressure?

So .. bad movies, huh? Not surprised at the remarkably 'rudimentary' responses, in that case.

Have a look at just SOME of the research

Again I want to see validated research supporting YOUR contention that shaming is effective

WTF has a reference to movies and that other gibberish got to do with the post of mine you quoted????

And 'rudimentary"? Your positions are the most rudimentary I've seen...'

Now, did you care to discuss the topic or just dump more hate on women??

When you select the 'societal norms', you reveal both the weakness of your position, and your lack of insight into how social pressure works.

I could just as easily select 'societal norms' which state that teenage sex is inevitable and unavoidable (the message most 'heard' by teens, if not actually sent) .. which is clearly a terrible 'norm'.

Societies which depend for their cohesion and survival on conformity, expect responsibility from ALL adult members, in ALL matters pertaining to the health of the unit. Spare resources are limited to the care of those who have no choice - the young, the old, and the involuntarily disabled. Failure to keep up this pressure (to be socially responsible) means the ultimate ruination of the entire village/tribe. How is that better?

There's that "I want a fairy tale utopia".... thing

Uh, most people aren't living in a cave in a jungle anymore... Most of us have evolved and use that freedom and liberty thing to make us happy NORMAL humans..

I linked to research and your response is “ I don fink so”and then waffled onabout societal norms

Put up the research to prove that shaming does anything other than drive abortion underground and increase the morbidity and mortality

Once more (for good luck) .. shaming isn't about actions AFTER the fact. It's about shaping behaviour so that women (in this case) don't make the sorts of poor choices which lead to abortion. Do you understand? You cannot measure that if your sample consists of 100% 'women with unwanted pregnancies'. You can only measure it by determining the percentage who have unwanted pregnancies. IOW, In societies in which sexual irresponsibility is frowned upon, is there a lower percentage of women having unwanted pregnancies? The answer to that is yes. ANY study you can find on such statistics will bear it out. And just about ANY country on earth has a better statistic on this than does America and similar western nations.

You may dislike it, but there it is. You cannot possibly declare that raising children to be responsible (via passive social pressure) is somehow more cruel than killing unborn babies. Actually ... given this thread, maybe you can. Very sad.

    And where is your research?

Shaming did not work back in the day when we labelled every out of wedlock child a “bastard”. It did not work in Dickensonian England it did not work and does not work in any society practicing it

As for your research on countries with better statistics

    Please provide them

I think it is amazing how often the names of websites are the complete opposite of what they really are. Abortion facts

So you mean because a majority of black women choose abortion somehow it’s racist? You mean black women don’t have minds of their own? The founder of Planned Parenthood fought for birth control and yes, black women were having so many unwanted pregnancies. But that isn’t the point.
Black women were not forced to have abortions then and black women are not forced to have abortions now

If poverty's that bad that women need to kill their babies, I say no more immigration.
