Some of you here believe that it's wrong to impose the death penalty, no matter what the crime is, even if someone murdered lots of innocent people and we were completely 100% sure they did it.

Assuming that it's not just some lifeless clump of cells, how could you be against the death penalty but be for abortion??

Easy (and you have had this explained to you so many times it's odd you still haven't got it.)

I'm against the death penalty because mistakes about guilt have been made and people's rights need protection but I have no qualms about pedophiles and murderers being executed.

These people have committed crimes and if execution is cheaper than keeping them in prison I'm all for it.

The fetus is not a born person, it has no rights to protect , it's basically a clump of cells when it's aborted so I have no qualms about it being aborted.

NOW, for ONCE be fair and honest...YOU explain how Anti-Choicers who think ALL LIFE is precious can condone war and executions.........

Simple. I oppose the death penalty because it is way too merciful for those who deserve it. They should be beaten daily by the family of the victim and should be made to live longer and suffer more. If someone hurt my family, they better hope the police find them before I do.

Thankfully, we have laws that prevent people like me from imposing my personal views onto others. The death penalty is barbaric, just like forcing women to carry full term. There is no place for either in modern society.

You mean you don’t think it’s right to kill somebody to show that killing is wrong?

We have laws so that your opinion of what is hypocritical doesn't get in the way of justice being served. I hope that no one you love ever becomes a victim and that you enjoy the luxury of your opinion for the rest of your life.

If someone hurt my family I would want to go buy a gun and torture him To death....that’s why we have laws. We can’t let emotions rule

Well so far 18states have done away with it. We are one of the only industrialized countries That uses this barbaric method of punishment.some states still have electrocution, hanging and gassing.
Well we’re like Saudi Arabia, and Iran. And all those third world countries,

I'm opposed to the death penalty largely on grounds of practicality. I don't believe executing criminals actually achieves anything; there is no deterrent for the kind of people who commit capital crimes and those at risk of re-offending will be imprisoned to prevent them doing so (if you fund your prison system sufficiently, maybe with all the money poured in to death row :) ). To implement a death penalty legitimately is expensive and difficult while doing it on the cheep removes the checks and balances implied by your mythical example of the mass murderer with 100% certainty of guilt.

I'm not for abortion but I recognise it as the least worst option in some situations and recognise that a complete ban wouldn't (doesn't!) prevent it happening. Making abortions avaibale in safe and secure clinical environments, where other alternatives can also be offered and discussed seems like the best approach to me.

I see no contradiction between my actual opinions on the two topics.

Lethal injection seems to be the most accepted method. Life in prison is less expensive than the process of putting the offender to death, but even California voted to keep it. To compare our justice system to the Saudis and Iran only shows a profound level of ignorance.

All I know is we have put people to death who were innocent. The way you look at those countries is the way industrialized countries look at us

How others look at us should never be a consideration. Should we be taking lessons from China or Qatar?

actually we will be taking lessons from China....trump is making China the leading power.
Next time we find a fake war like Iraq our allies will not come to help us. We need respect from the rest of the world and pulling out of everything and going it alone is going to hurt us.

I know I will regret it, but I'll bite. How is Trump making China "The leading power"? And what lessons are you talking about?

But killing someone because they don't have the right to cause inconvenience and discomfort to a woman is not hypocritical. Got you.

Hmm, wouldn't want to do that would we?

No you don't.... it isn't right to kill SOMEONE because they don't have the right to cause inconvenience and discomfort to a woman.

It IS OK to kill a fetus because women have a right to their own bodies...

Of course we don't want to put to death PEOPLE who are innocent.......don't you agree?[/QUOTE]

So.........who are you advocating gets the "death penalty"?

The woman developing a life threatening condition associated with pregnancy?

The girl who has been raped by her step father?

The teen thrown out of home because she is pregnant?

    The 12 year old

We know that is not the case in most pregnancies that end in abortion.

And I'd have to deal with your exceptions one by one. But I'll look at one of them:
Do you believe rape should be punished with the death penalty?

If not, it's interesting that you would condone killing as a method to deal with the consequences of a rape.

I know, I know, you'll say it's not really a person yet. But in a lot of these incest cases they don't find out about the pregnancy until it is already far underway (14-18 weeks is not atypical).

Duh, each case IS different....each women is different........rights aren't given out on that basis....every woman always has a right to choose abortion...

    .

NO, YOU do NOT have to deal with any of them. YOU do NOT decide for women what they'll do.

..,.and 14-18 weeks is legal...ANOTHER BIG ""SO WHAT ?"""

. My goodness don't you seem to know a LOT about INCEST ...;) HOW do you know that "they" don't find out about the pregnancy until it is already far underway" ????

    Who told you that?

It's interesting that you want the raped women to be punished for being raped just like extremist Muslims...
