I hate to burst your bubble but, you can find people picking through and eating garbage here in the US . This not to say that Maduro is not creating serious problems for the country but, your example is not great.

This is laughable. If Maduro really was a "brutal dictator", then we wouldn't even be having this conversation because there would be no opposition movement to speak of.

The fact that Maduro has allowed someone else to declare themselves the president of Venezuela and to openly challenge his presidency is proof that Maduro is not even close to a dictator, let alone a brutal one.

If you want a real example of a brutal dictatorship, then you need to look at a place like Saudi Arabia, where all opposition to the government is strangled in its crib.

There absolutely is a comparison. The Ukrainian government, which the US helped put into power, is utterly lacking in democratic legitimacy. They came to power by violently ousting the duly elected president and then holding sham elections after the fact. And they did this with the help of openly fascist gangs and militias and who now pollute and influence the government in Kiev. It got so bad, that the US congress had to pass a law barring any US assistance to neo-Nazis militias inside of Ukraine's military! Only, that law was passed YEARS after the fact, making it nothing more than empty symbolism bereft of actual impact.

So your objection to Trump's Venezuela policy is that it's not aggressive enough?

No they didn't - sounds like you are parroting Zoom's nonsense narrative. That was not the Russian Army.

The US government is waging economic and political terrorism on Venezuela. So why should we be surprised when ordinary Venezuelans suffer? That is the entire point of US foreign policy in Venezuela: To destabilize Venezuelan society by wreaking economic and political havoc on the population. It's a strategy the US has employed over and over and over again, from Iraq to Iran to North Korea. And it never actually works. All it does is cause needless and gratuitous suffering among the weakest and most vulnerable members of those societies. Anyone who can support those kinds of actions has to be psychopathic to some degree.

Yeah, those people are homeless bums.

Maduro has driven the ordinary citizens of his country to the level of American street bums. You will see school teachers, bus drivers, CHILDREN, etc... picking food out of the trash in Venezuela. To claim the food-scarcity humanitarian crisis in Venezuela is similar to America's food situation, with our skyrocketing obesity rates, is just ridiculousness taken to the extreme.

Malnutrition is a big problem with American kids, is it?

But, if you say this is all just Western media lies, then I guess you know better.

    Screen Shot 2019-03-28 at 5.02.07 PM.png

If you say so, then I guess it's all just Nazi propaganda.

I guess there is no crisis, Maduro is doing a wonderful job, and everybody in Venezuela is fat and happy. No shipments of humanitarian food needed. Let's just leave the Venezuelans to enjoy their socialist utopia. Fine by me, sounds like a plan.

I mean, look at this tubby Venezuelan.

He looks fat and happy to me.

Russia has always held U.S. Marines in awe and have always highly respected a Marine and his rifle.

But when U.S. Marines get a little too close to Russia's borders they aren't happy campers.

The Venezuelans have been inviting the Russians over for quiet some time. Seems the US is all for disrupting the nation, economically push them to the edge, so make the change to "the land of the free" though un democratic coup.

It was a comparison between the average Marine and Russian Spetsnaz, now all of a sudden you are comparing Marines with IED's, seems awfully emotional. Are you one of those female Marines? Serious question. These days, you never know.

I'm one of those Marines who actually fought in a war, unlike you.

Kudos to you and glad you came back. However my service means no less than yours does. I stood ready at Fulda Gap in the 80s and we were the reason the Soviet Union just laid down and died rather than come through the Gap. Your opinion means no more than mine, especially when I'm right. ;)

Women Marines are to be referred to as BAM's.

At least that's what we called women Marines back in the "Old Corps."

Your "service" entailed sitting around eating donuts.

Mine entailed fighting Al Qaeda and ISIS.

People can judge for themselves which service was more meaningful.

    From the World Health Organization:

Malnutrition refers to deficiencies, excesses or imbalances in a person’s intake of energy and/or nutrients. The term malnutrition covers 2 broad groups of conditions. One is ‘undernutrition’—which includes stunting (low height for age), wasting (low weight for height), underweight (low weight for age) and micronutrient deficiencies or insufficiencies (a lack of important vitamins and minerals). The other is overweight, obesity and diet-related noncommunicable diseases (such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer).

The answer to your question is -- F*CK YES. It most certainly is.

Both are malnutrition, and both can (and do) kill. Both can also be symptoms of poverty. You should be more precise, and ensure your words don't convey unwanted meanings that can be easily trolled.

We didn't get donuts, we trained far harder, as it turns out, than the Soviets did. Theyvdidnt want none of the USA then and they certainly don't now. And you think fighting someone who is whole heartedly counting on allah to guide his bullets to his enemies while he turns his head, squeezes his eyes shut and lets off a 69 rd burst makes you any more American than any of the rest of us, you are wrong.

That you can't keep from ad homs while talking with someone who thinks differently than you do is very telling. Tearing down others is something that an insecure individual does. You don't seem very Marine like. Quite the opposite.

I havnt been following the situation to closely to be honest. I was in Curacao recently - a Dutch Island just north of Venezuela. Venezuela's take boats full of fruits and vegetables to this kind of market on the water ... not that this is an indication of the place as a whole but there are some with food .. and some trade is going on.

As soon as the Establishment decides to go after a certain nation - there is going to be a whole lot of propaganda one has to weed through to get to the truth. Not that any of the stuff you posted is ... but its important to be aware of this.
