Vintage cars took over the Redding Civic Center on Saturday for the biggest car show of this year's Kool April Nites event.

Event president Debra Fox said they had 1,900 registered cars and about 15,000 attendees on Saturday alone. The average is usually 10,000 attendees. Cars came from all over California and the West Coast.

"People were coming up to the booth telling us what a great show it was, it was one of the best they'd ever been to,"

We lost the last two years to China virus and this year both the show today and the cruise last night were absolutely huge. Kool April Nights is an awesome event.

Awesome. My husband and I enjoy those car shows. We saw a mini one this evening...10 cars displayed in the restaurant parking lot where we ate.

And...as I was eating there with no masks in sight, all normal as it should be...I thought never again would we shut down like we did.

Last Friday afternoon the week kicked off with a four city block long block party with hundreds of cars and thousands of pedestrians looking at the cars and the booths and taking in the local restaurants. Last night was the big cruise with several thousands lined up along the four streets of the cruise route. Today was the biggest show. In three weeks here it will be rodeo week, another large local draw pre summer major tourist season.
