Mere citizens? And where is your evidence that he was spying?
Who doesn't want to go back to double digit unemployment.
I guess we won't know until all of the votes are counted?
This will go on for decades, ya never will get partisan support again for anything , hope a person is happy with the results..
He released private phone calls ,Google it
He did not release private calls. He released some apparent data about who called who and when. I don't need to google it, as I do keep abreast of this stuff. Doing what he did.....release that data, does not make him a spy. It makes him someone into whose hands some apparent relevant facts were delivered.
How did he get it?
Americas two favorite FBI lovers?
I don't care how he got it......(within limits obviously. If he killed someone to get it, then I'd have a different view.)
Dunno what that 'lovers' stuff has to do with this.
So you dont care how government agency's get your records? And release them into the public..
That's not freedom bro its North Korea communism.
Shiff for brains was trying to assassinate the opposition just because the heir to the messiah wasn't president.
Schiff is a Government Agency? What I guess happens in places like North Korea is that people with zero credentials act on behalf of some Despot and start infiltrating their way into matters they have zero right to be involved in......for nefarious purposes.
Schiff will walk away from this with ease. Rudy and Nunes are in the schitt, large.
Why ?? The Democrats have done nothing to help Blacks.
Nunes, Giuliani, Solomon are not felons nor under indictment.
"If we’ve never had a scandal like this before, it’s in part because it is legally dubious. Federal law bars phone carriers from handing over records without an individual’s agreement. The statute makes some exceptions, including for federal and state law-enforcement agencies.
But not for lawmakers. “There does not appear to be any basis to believe that a congressional committee is authorized to subpoena telephone records directly from a provider—as opposed to an individual,” former Attorney General Michael Mukasey tells me."....
“The subpoenas aren’t related to legitimate congressional oversight,” says constitutional lawyer David Rivkin. Because there’s “no conceivable legislative purpose to obtaining these call logs and publicly disclosing this information, Mr. Schiff would not be able to benefit from the Speech and Debate Clause immunity that otherwise protects members of Congress from civil and criminal liability.” Mr. Rivkin adds that any of the targets could sue Mr. Schiff under state law for invasion of privacy or intentional infliction of emotional distress, and potentially even compel Mr. Schiff to turn over documents in discovery."
EVEN if he got them legally why should they be released the public? How about Trump getting Schiff's and Nader's and releasing them to the public?
This is the banana republic that we now live in. It’s very scary to see what the unelected bureaucracy can do to people like Mike Flynn, Carter Page, Roger Stone, George Papadopoulos, .....
And they obtain the records of all and released them and Giuliani is the personal attorney of the person being investigated. Expect legal actions to come.
BS there is no law on obtaining phone records !!!!!!!!
And did so without allowing Guilani, the legal counsel of the person being investigated to respond to the subpoena. Schiff is not involved in the criminal investigation into two people who Giuliani happens to know. He is not a party to that investigation that is the Department of Justice have they appointed him an agent?
Well, except for Federal law you might have something. They can be obtained via subpoena or by request of the account holder via a notarized letter.
Then there is this:
“No agency shall disclose any record which is contained in a system of records by any means of communication to any person, or to another agency, except pursuant to a written request by, or with the prior written consent of, the individual to whom the record pertains [subject to 12 exceptions].” 5 U.S.C. § 552a(b).
Fine do it. Trump and his team have been lying, covering up, and obstructing the entire investigation. If Trump was innocent he would have no problem.
Well that’s provable BS. You must not be aware of your own rights. The normal process, especially since they are trying to overthrow the people’s choice, is to go to court to decide which party is right but the dem clown show is in such a hurry they are not even waiting for the McGahn decision which they argued is necessary for their investigation.
The one he used to get tthe records.
So you're OK Congressmen secretly getting the phone records of their congressional colleagues, the attorney's of those they are investigating and journalist who are reporting things they do not like being reported......gotcha. Got it on record now for future reference.
And the 4th amendment protects us against unreasonable search and seizure. Why is Schiff seeking these records and why did he then release them to the public? Were those whose records were obtained given an opportunity to challenge those subpoena's?
"Readers may recall that only a few years ago Democrats were in high dudgeon over the executive branch’s collection of metadata against terrorists. They claimed the National Security Agency was “spying” on Americans, and in 2015 Congress barred NSA from collecting bulk domestic metadata. Federal investigators must offer legitimate reasons to obtain metadata from telecom companies, and they are subject to restrictions on divulging it.
Yet here the companies appear to have handed over metadata based on little more than Mr. Schiff’s say-so—and in AT&T’s case in response to a request that was made before the House began a formal impeachment inquiry."
