Advice needed, please... I am looking to tap into my PF friends expertise with regard to the purchase of a "smart-phone." Currently, I'm using a LG Cosmos, which is a nice little phone, but offers nothing in the way of accessing my office, performing business functions, etc. Also, while I can access the internet from this phone, its user hostile and very limited. My needs are access to my office documents. Ideally, I'd like to be able to generate invoices, and send them as attachments from my phone while at the job sites. I would like to be able to edit my performance schedule from this phone, which requires a smoother net interphase than I currently have. I do NOT need a MP3 player, video player, games, etc... Please share your experiences and suggestions... Thanks!
if you are locked into a contract (how it's done in the USA) then your choices are what your carrier offers with that said, you then get into how can you be most future proof? Look toward operating system market share. Android vaulted all the way to #2 with only Symbian being ahead. Symbian is seen in the rest of the world but is not growing while Android is. I-phone either is or will be #3 with Blackberry relegating downward Android is an open system so there are many more options with respect to free applications ("apps" is the cool term) then you get into whether you like a touch screen or a hard keypad. So, you can't go worng with an Android OS and after that, it's personal taste with respect to touch or physical keypad and size and weight people will talk about sync'ing your I-phone with pad and I book but that does not sound all too important to you. The new tablets on the market run Android so you can have an Android tablet and phone. New connected TV's as well a set top boxes are starting to run with Android as well
Android has office apps and you could tie things in with Google docs or you could investigate the windows phone. The iPhones are interesting but you have to deal with Apple issues.
I know someone that has an iphone that she connects to her office to take care of things that needs to be done. Droid is good and the droid razer is suppose to be better.
please note that "Droid" is actually a product name from Motorola You don't need to buy a "Droid" just to get the Android OS. Many companies build smartphones using the Android OS (note the #2 status of the OS)
I've stuck with the iPhone for years and it's served me well. Some of my friends love the Droid. They're both excellent choices. Here's some reading for you. Motorola Droid RAZR vs. Apple iPhone 4S: Verizon Smartphone Showdown
