His lawyer was the most genius man alive to nearly get this kid off with a slap on the wrist. He only went to jail because he broke probation, which goes to show how ****ING stupid this waste of skin is. Not a kid anymore though.

He should have been executed for killing 4.. It's beyond deplorable. He got off easy. They have to change the laws from Homicide to Murder if you kill anyone while drunk behind the wheel. Its not a mistake or accident. NEVER is, especially when ts 3X the legal limit. Thats wasted.

He's only in remission, not cured of his flu disease. Don't worry, he's most likely going to recidivate.

A grave injustice to the victims and their families, this whole ordeal. the justice system really failed them.

but this punk is so aggressively stupid he'll VOP again, and again....and ultimately the unemployable Mr. Couch will turn to crime to finance his lifestyle and addictions (the family is likely racing towards bankruptcy due to he and his lovely mother's steep legal expenses) and the aforementioned stupidity will eventually result in an appropriately long stretch behind bars.

    that's what I'm figuring, anyway...

Sadly criminal justice only seems to apply to the average people unless you rip off a large number ou'd people (Bernie madeof).

I think the reason they don't charge people with murder for that is intent. That being said criminally negligent homicide should carry a hefty sentance.

10 years probation? There's no way he goes 10 years without screwing up. Then from what I heard he gets locked up for 40 years.

Or maybe a drunk will run him over.

one set of justice for the rich, another for the working class

that said, I do not wish him executed or anything like that, just the same justice that we would get if one of us drove drunk and killed someone... the rich should be punished the same

If you're rich and/or politically connected you don't answer for your crimes like us common peasants do.

That piece of subhuman **** got beyond shitface drunk, robbed a store, killed 4 people and injured 9 others.

I hope that one day I read that he, his father, his mother, and that ****wad psychologist who fabricated that bullshit "affluenza" have all been taken out by karma.

That entire family is a genetic infection.

I laugh my ass off that the truck that piece of **** used was a company vehicle, ya know, because it opened up the family business to lawsuits.

Anybody know if dad's company was run out of business?

Man I'd love to hear that it was.

Murder is a form of homicide. There are other forms as well such as manslaughter, felony murder and justifiable homicide. You won't have much luck convincing people that every traffic accident resulting in death is murder. The law is more sophisticated than that.

He was 16 and tried in juvenile court by a rather stupid bleeding leart liberal judge

This was not a jury trial where he was judged by the ordinary people of Texas

Considering I never implied every accident is murder, you're completely correct. I spoke specifically of those who drive drunk then kill people. QUITE the difference don't you think? A family down here a number of years ago was rear ended at a light and killed by a drunk. He also claims he accidently didn't mean to kill them. He purposely drank A LOT and purposely got into a car, but then accidently passed out at the wheel? Sorry...no dice. You purposely knew there was a going to kill someone by starting that car. Its like robbing a bank armed with a gun, claiming its just to scare people and then you "accidentally" shoot someone, but you never intended to kill anyone. Same B.S. excuses.

Murder requires the intent to kill. A drunk driver doesn't know he or she will kill someone and has no intent to do so. They are guilty of some other form of homicide other than murder.

And the guy robbing you with a gun who claims, "I was never intending to shoot anyone"? That is the standard legal defense in any "accidental" shooting and any decent judge should toss that excuse back in the lawyers face. If you get in the car drunk(not talking a drink with dinner where you barely register a level...we're talking really drunk), you are WELL AWARE you can and will kill someone. That's like claiming mountain climbers don't know they can die at any moment. That's why drunk driving should be second degree murder. You didn't intend to drive your car into that crowd while passed out, but you sure as **** knew it could easily happen, when you're nodding off at the wheel and yet continue to drive, instead of calling an UBER, a friend or just sleeping it off in your car in the parking lot.

You're basically using his excuse. He had NO IDEA between right and wrong, because no one told him not to do it. BULL ****!!! Its why smokers can't sue tobacco companies anymore when they get lung cancer. Oh, really, you didn't KNOW you could die from smoking? Really?

This case was disgusting. The lawyer that dreamt up this defense ought to be tried for defrauding those families that Couch destroyed.

Couch ought to be drawn and quartered for what he did.

This is a gross injustice and evidence that our "justice" system is nothing more then a "who has money for a good lawyer" system.
