Yup. And at that level the added tax is a bit more than $5,000/yr. It doesn't hurt a bit. But at the $1 million level the tax is more like $200,000. Still doesn't hurt a bit. I can live very well on $750,000/year.

Well, OBAMACARE is not "bad",I have OBAMACARE & it has worked for me exactly how it was intended & I am very happy that our states GOP Governor( NEVADA) has opted in----
it could & would be better 'if" all the GOP states would opt in like intended, if it was a GOP bill laid out exactly like OBAMACARE ( after all it was modeled after the original GOP plan) the GOP would be crowing as to how great it is----it is a pretty easy fix-----I personally don't care what it is called ACA or AAA or ABC, get party over country out of it & just help all American's afford Health Care--

Here's the problem, the GOP are pi##ed that it took a Democrat to accomplish something that has been kicked down the road for 50 years-
The bill presented by the GOP right now is to go back to where we were before OBAMACARE,which is "NO" Health Care Reform at all & keep kicking it down the road for another 50 or so years---Unacceptable----

Not sure why they are even pushing reform for Healthcare if they don't all agree on it. Obamacare is a complete disaster but what is so great about the replacement? The Democrats broke it, they should be working to fix it with real solutions.

Healthcare problems were in the top three complaints by Americans for the 50 years preceding Obamacare ... the system was hurting for decades.

I'm not saying it hasn't helped some, but a plan that forces a person to buy insurance or face a fine....to me is bad. I have been in the situation where I thought I didn't have health insurance in an emergency and thought I was going to be paying on it for years. Thankfully my insurance company at the time had a grace period so I was covered. From this experience I will never be without some insurance, but it was my choice to roll the dice....and I almost lost, but it was my choice and should be my choice.

How can you just blame that on republicans? Some of the biggest lobbyists for the Dems are lawyer's groups that represent people in civil lawsuits. Ambulance chasers.

    As per link "
The Republican plan did share some similarities with the ACA, like mandating coverage for people with pre-existing conditions and providing insurance subsidies. Unlike the Obama law, though, it would have reduced subsidies and Medicaid spending and used those savings to cut out taxes for wealthy Americans and medical companies.

Conservatives panned the bill because they said it didn’t go far enough in repealing the ACA. Trump attempted this week to persuade the holdouts with a warning that Republicans could lose control of Congress next year if they didn’t approve the bill. On Monday, several changes were written into the package to assuage lingering concerns.

Hmm..so whom is this freedom caucus that we have to thank, that this disaster of a bill died and still lets the Single payer option door stay open.

    "
    A brief history
The House Freedom Caucus got its start in 2015 when a small group of members came together to push for more conservative spending and policy ideals in the House. At first, there were just nine of them, but the group, which is considered the most far-right flank of the Republican conference, grew.

    What have they accomplished?
The group -- when they hold the line together -- can have a lot of influence.
In 2015, they pushed to defund Planned Parenthood in a must-pass bill to keep the government funded. The group's revolt against then-House Speaker John Boehner on a host of issues left Boehner ready to retire. During the Obama years, many of the conservative bills that made it through the House never had a shot of being signed by former President Barack Obama. Now, the group could have a lot more sway.
And while the group has insisted its relationship with House Speaker Paul Ryan is more open, the opposition by much of the group to House leaders' health care bill has created a schism once again between the group and leadership.

Ahh, those lunatics. So Ryans bill was not loony enough for their approval..good enough excuse for me..

Good let the ACA run its course...Single payer is next when Democrats come back in control :)

I've maintained since the ACA idea was bandied about, that single payer was the dem's goal.

Yep...you and Rush Limbaugh....but back then those people condemned it...called it socialism, etc spread lies and fear about it. Labeled anyone whom let Obama look like a success as a non American traitor.

To the underlined. That is a false narrative...The Democrats addressed it, and with a republican plan at that! (which is why this is fun to watch, Obama knew what he was doing, republicans cant repeal their own plan!)..It was a much more massive problem before the ACA then it is today.

Democrats support Single payer or universal healthcare...unfortunately we have to wait for the pendulum to swing back our way to get it done right.

The problem with this comparison, is that RomneyCare was directed @ a state.... Not the nation.

As a matter of fact, this AHCA is closer to RomneyCare, in having states direct/set mandates concerning coverage.

Do you agree with the mandate part? Even though it is republican in nature...it makes since.
Getting rid of the free loaders so to speak. By free loading, meaning going through life not paying for insurance knowing that IF S*!t happens Hospitals have to accept and treat you.

I don't agree with any mandate, concerning my personal healthcare.

I believe I should be free to chose what I want... If anything.... Understanding it's a fool's choice to go without healthcare.

Honestly, if a mandate for all to have insurance is to be, I'd have less of a problem with catastrophic coverage.

EDIT: since I've still not seen a thing done to address the costs of care, if the uninsured get treated, & don't pay... Well, that's what civil court is for.

Heh...Civil court, now that is funny.
Try suing a broke person and see how much money you get outta them..if anything you lose money just not showing up to work during the court dates.

Also...remember before the mandate, catastrophic coverage used to be denied due to pre-existing conditions...meaning you just literally threw your money down the toilet, and not only that, but now you have a insurance denial record, try shopping around with that kinda CLUE report history.

I'm just saying that a simple expansion of Medicare should fill the bill for those broke....

Without addressing the costs, any type of "fix" isn't a fix, but a scam, designed to give false hope.

Addressing preexisting conditions, should be targeted to the insurance co's... Tax breaks for providing coverage, would surely motivate them to apply coverage.

Anyway, I gotta hit the rack. I'll catch up L8r.

    Ciao for now.

Why? Why should it be your choice to do something that is overall bad for everybody? If you have an untreated and contagious disease you can start an epidemic before you die, should we let you kill thousands because it was your choice not to have heath insurance and you were therefore afraid to go to the hospital?

The real reason for the mandate to have insurance is because that's how insurance works. The vast majority of people don't and probably won't ever need it but everybody pays into it because some may and there is no way of saying who will be the needful ones.

We live in society and society regularly and routinely regulates your choices of all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons, the vast majority having to do with society's convenience and even just its sensibilities, health care decisions involve OUR survival, not just yours, of course society will have its say.

Nonsense. The single payer system is the only sane way to go. Get the insurance companies and the greed motive out of the equation.
Health care in the US is a nightmare of insurance scams and medical fraud by doctors and hospitals gaming the system.
I work in the UK and I have never once had to deal with some insurance company bullshit when I needed to see a doctor.
You go to the local clinic. You get referrals to specialists. You get hospital treatments and outpatient treatments, all without ever being grilled by some insurance company agent whose main motivation is seeing how they can screw you and deny you coverage.

    Ummm, no!

The GOP have only disappointed the extremist alt right who were demanding that Obamacare be repealed.

The majority of We the People just wanted Obamacare IMPROVED and yes, that INCLUDES moderate Republicans.

And if you want better care than you feel they are giving you, you are fully free to go to a private doctor and pay him yourself, or have insurance do so if you have it. The two systems operate side by side and seem to do so with relatively little problem

I've never been able to understand how conservatives seem to feel people who can't afford healthcare are somehow better off with NO healthcare rather than healthcare that is less than entirely perfect

All government has to do is to lift unconstitutional ban on purchase of the government health insurance aka Medicare.
