NO, if abortion is banned women lose the basic human right of bodily autonomy, essentially becoming slaves.

All i am saying is that it is alive and human and has no potential to be anything other than that. Any one of us could die at any moment, we all have varying levels of experiencing human life, some experience very little of it. The right to that life is not negated by any factor other than due process or the defense of life.

Although one can find a few people that claim "Science Says its a human" - This a false claim as there is no such consensus .. in fact the consensus is the opposite.

Either way - the best place the anti choice side can get to is what you have stated/inferred - "Experts disagree" "We don't know".

Since we are talking law - it up to the choice side to present a valid legal argument for why "any" authority (be it Federal, State, Local) should be given power to violated the rights of the woman over her own body.

Unless - one can make the argument that the zygote is a living human or a Person, with rights, including the right to life. In this case the Gov't would have legitimate authority - We now have two people with rights - and it is the Gov'ts legitimate authority to protect individuals in society from harm.

This then becomes a case of conflicting rights .. The Judiciary must then weigh the rights of each individual against the other on the scales of Justice.

The value on one side is heavy .. the rights of the Woman. How do we assign a value to the Zygote ? to "We don't know" / "We don't know otherwise" "experts disagree" ?

The rights of the woman win by default.

 

The people writing an even getting such anti abortion laws on the books of some states are the ones talking about rape as not being a valid reason for abortions under the laws they are passing or trying to get pass.
