Alabama: the Woman, her Womb, and the Politicians

    There are politicians in the US still hellbent upon seizing control of wombs in a radical intrusion of the State into private, personal matters.

    The question of whether an impregnated woman should be able to determine her own course, in consultation with her medical and spiritual advisers, trusted friends and family members, and her conscience, or be coerced by politicians who know nothing of her or her circumstances should dictate her decisions is an enduring one.

    In Alabama, extremists are currently insisting that even victims of rape and incest must submit to their will, and are attempting to furtively grab this absolute State womb control anonymously.

    Whether every microscopic, mindless amalgam of cells within a woman's womb should immediately trigger draconian Big Government intrusion and appropriation, or an American's privacy respected unless and until another actual person has become an interested party will continue to be a hotly-contested debate, even as personal freedom has come to be safeguarded in advanced nations whose bureaucrats are not permitted to intrude during the first trimester.

    Laws are always subject to revision, of course, and that can mean reversion, but this zealotry for statism is particularly passionate at present.

    For those who pay lip service to limited government, what compels such seething enthusiasm for government overreach?

    Do they accept any limits on the power of the State in such personal matters?

    Quo vadis?

    Unfortunately, almost the only thing one can do is to voice opinion in the matter...and attempt, where possible, to influence others to come around to that opinion also.

    It is my opinion that a woman with a pregnancy occurring in her own body should have final say on whether or not to continue the pregnancy or to terminate it.

    Some people do not agree.

    Too bad men don't get pregnant. This thing would be cleared up almost immediately if it were their choices being limited.

    The myth that this is about a "woman's womb" is a phony argument. It is about the human life and the value of it. Some say a fetus is not a life yet if scientists discovered some microscopic organism on Mars they would claim "Life found on Mars".

    The hypocrisy is astounding.

    NOT when it comes to controlling/punishing women for having sex and getting pregnant.


    I just can't comprehend the FIEND who thinks women should be forced to gestate especially if it's their RAPIST'S baby.

    RAPIST'S commit RAPE because they like POWER and CONTROL over women, they want to PUNISH them......EXACTLY like those legislators want to do...….they and the rapists are SO ALIKE.

    IF men got pregnant there'd be a free abortion clinic on every corner......men have never been punished for having sex.

    Americans should pay attention when one group wants to take away the right to one's own body from one group...WHAT "GROUP" will be next???

    Americans believe that murder is illegal.

    Americans do not believe that a woman terminating her pregnancy before a person has developed in her womb is murder.

    Otherwise, you are claiming that all advanced nations sanction murder.

    If your argument were viable, there would be no resistance to politicians seizing control of wombs and imposing their will from the instant of impregnation.

    Neither the extremists who insist that an itty-bitty person suddenly appears at that instant, nor those at the opposite extreme who insist that a person does not exist until birth, can be allowed to impose their extremist notions upon everyone else via government coercion.

    Rapists force women to do what they don't want to do. Republicans are trying to forcibly rape the woman a second time by making her carry a rapist's baby to term. There is no difference.
