Most sop-heads don't care about the shape of the glass - just so long as ya fill it to the brim... Beer-glass shape alters people's drinking speed - study 31 August 2012: The shape of your glass is probably the last thing on your mind when you are down the pub.
Hard to make a judgement here. Filming people who are paying for their beer is much different than a controlled setting. As you get more drunk, the ability to determine the volume in a complex shape gets more muddled so it is reasonable to assume that people slow down to avoid unnecessary costs and a drunk driving charge. I believe the researchers made the correct conclusion but the study was flawed due to the inability to control extraneous variables relating to driving home and how much is this going to cost. In a situation where 100 people are given free drinks where 50 are given drinks in a linear shape and 50 are given drinks in a curved shape and the people are given a free overnight stay in a nice hotel or spa, I'm not sure that you would see a difference in the rate of consumption.

It is a choice of quantity versus quality of life.; the world is full of cool things that shorten your life and it is up to you to make a choice . Personally i am using everything i like in quantities i can control ( like drinking much but not enough to become (*)(*)(*)(*)faced) and i accept that i will not go pass 50 (and i am already close to this age) , others like to live 80 years by restricting themselves. I think both options are fine.
