"MARS photos snapped by NASA’s Curiosity rover contain evidence of ancient alien statues, pyramids and other bizarre structures, conspiracy theorists have shockingly claimed."

Take a look at this link, then tell me that this risible nonsense isn't to do with attracting advertising revenue? What there is in this one link alone must be worth millions.

I’m sure it is (I’m not clicking it for that very reason). On that basis, why do you keep on promoting the Daily Express on this forum? If you stopped linking to it, they wouldn’t get the advertising revenue from the resulting clicks. Any actual science story will be available from much more reliable news sources.

I'm not impressed unless they've at least discovered a wheel.... those statues are pre-wheel

Well I bet they’re not reporting anything about “alien statues on Mars” for a start. The list of better science news sources than the Express would include “Beano”, “Dandy” and “staring at a blank wall” though.

Seriously, if you’re really interested in reading about actual science rather than conspiracy theories and tabloid trash, it’s really easy to find a list (which is important in itself) of useful sites; https://www.livescience.com/61995-best-science-websites.html

I know, and the only reason I posted the link was to demonstrate my conviction that the gutter press infantilises it to attract advertising.

Thank you for admitting that you are posting in the WRONG FORUM!

No, the invention of the wheel is Earthlings' claim to fame. I don't think Martians have invented anything yet. Mebbe they're not as smart as we thought? [IMG]

Good. Does that mean you'll stop starting threads based on their stories then?

I make no promises, but I've made my point; so I'll restrict my posts to exposing NASA et al for the opportunists that they are with their exaggerations and ludicrous hyperbole.

Only as long as those "exaggerations and ludicrous hyperbole" come DIRECTLY from NASA publications.

None of this tabloid "exaggerations and ludicrous hyperbole" allowed since that belongs in a DIFFERENT forum.

I suggest you direct that suggestion to NASA - after all, NASA broadcasts the salient (I use the word loosely, but it is relevant?) facts (I use that word loosely as well), and all the junk press does is dumb it down for the reason I've already given. Oh and I read yesterday that we (UK) have our very own space agency now. Just like Topsy, the industry just keeps growing and growing.

Actually, after giving it some thought, you're right. Maybe the Conspiracies forum is the right place, so I'll post on there in future.

I find it rather arrogant of earthlings calling life-forms on Mars "alien".

This story has nothing to do with NASA. They will have never made any claims about "alien statues". That is entirely made up by the tabloid scum that you claim to be opposing yet are actively supporting by constantly reposting their fraudulent trash. You're either an idiot, trolling or in on the fraud.

DUH! I know!! My issue, until I came up with the answer myself, because nobody else seemed to have it - including you?? - is Why TF do the 'tabloid scum' publish this crap. I'm not an idiot nor a troll nor in on the fraud. And I can assure you that I'm nowhere near the fool you so obviously take me to be.

Calm down dear? By the way, who's the one who keep starting fantasy threads on his own love life? Here's a clue - he's reading this post right now.

Looks like your thread was REMOVED from the Science forum and placed where it BELONGS instead.

Now if you post yet another thread like this one in the Science forum why would you be surprised if that is how you are perceived by others?
