Speaking as an American I have to agree with that assessment. We lack humility and empathy and believe that we can impose our way of life on everyone else without having any genuine understanding that there are better ways of living out there that we have yet to experience.

Sometimes I despair when I see the hubris of our leaders making empty proclamations of "American exceptionalism". The truth is that we have imposed a system of unnecessary stress upon ourselves just by failing to acknowledge that we are human and equally as prone as everyone else to make mistakes. And when we do screw up it can negatively impact the rest of the world as happened back in 2008.

That said there are many Americans who have made contributions that have improved the quality of life for people around the world. So we are not entirely bad, it is just that we tend to promote the worst aspects of ourselves. Above all else I believe in We the People to ultimately do the right thing. It just takes us longer to figure out what that is! ;)

And Australians are not narcissistic? 95% of Australia has been in drought for the past 5 years and farmers are going bankrupt, and committing suicide everyday of the week.

However, the Australian Foreign Affairs Minister (the Asbestos Queen Julie Bishop) has been running around handing out $hundreds of million of dollars in free aid to assist foreigners in foreign countries, but hasn’t given a red cent to help and support any Australian farmer in crisis.

Doesn’t this also demonstrate this old tart and her Government have an over inflated of self-importance and limited knowledge on how people in her own country think and live?

Americans are not the only people guilty of this trait. However, sycophants just like to keep pointing the finger until some people become ashamed of themselves for no reason. Cry someone down long enough and people become ashamed of themselves and their entire culture - just look at the Germans as an example. They have destroyed their own country in a gesture of good will by accepting too many country shopping asylum seekers, but they will never escape being called Nazi's. I just hope other people wake-up and realise, that once you are branded, you are branded for life.

Wanting to protect Australian values/culture and Australian jobs, is now considered racist and bigoted? LMFAO

Didn't every Australian who died in every war; die protecting Australia and the Australian way of life?

I will never believe for a second that both my uncles gave their lives in World war 2 so Australian sycophants could give filthy Muslim men (under Sharia Law) the opportunity to marry and have sexual relationships with underage pubescent children. Australian politicians, and do-gooder who never got off their arses to fight for anything other than a cupcake on the pastry card, have turned their honourable & noble sacrifice into something disgusting and perverted.

I'm not saying the Catholic organisation are saints, but I would bet $100 right there and now you wouldn't find a priest anywhere in the would who would marry a 40 year old man and a 10 year old girl, but I bet you would find a filthy Muslim Iman somewhere in a sleazy Middle Eastern or African country who would - especially a country controlled by sharia Law.

Are you really that naive to think other people ARE NOT bigoted and racist against you? Maybe its time to pull your head out of the sandbox and look over the fence, you just might see something besides your own fantasy Zen garden. LOL

Anning is, apart from anything else, ignorant. And he said the bests days were under Joh. Even Hanson baked him. Anning is an aberration who will soon be out of the Senate - thankfully.

    He's not the only one.

However, when this all backfires on the do-gooder crusaders; the do-gooders ignorance will pale in comparison to Anning's.

Hope he's not in there for the long term.
These shameful, horrible, ignorant people are a blight on our Parliament.
Who votes for them? The voters who supported him should crawl back under their stones.

I don't have any problem with someone like Anning wanting to protect pubescent children being sexually exploited by shameful; horrible and ignorant Muslims under Islamic Sharia law.

Why don't you want to protect children being sexually exploited and groomed under sharia Law?

Voters who are out to get even for being required to vote or face a fine.

In all my years I have never heard anyone say they use their vote to get even for having to vote or get fined. I have heard people that gave a donkey vote because they are disillusioned or such. But then what would I know, I have only lived here for 65 years.

Storm in a tea cup? Media driven hysteria?

    Or

    Attention seeking wannabe? Headline hunter?

My take is that Anning is too silly to of hidden a Nazi slogan in his speach, and I am not sure he even meant to. In the end he got what he wanted....... outrage!

I am not here to defend Anning, but I used to frequent a lot of corporate meetings, that occassionally included politicians, and the term “final solution” was used frequently. They all must of been Nazi’s and racists! Perhaps Anning is both, or neither.

What he has brought up for debate is immigration. I live in an area that was built on the back of immigrants. Italians, Yugoslavs, German, and Chinese. To name but a few. When I speak to people here, in Katter country, they support Annings view. Well a majority do.

It is not immigration they are against, it is Muslim immigration. There is a distinct fear of it, and it is hard to argue their reasoning. A lot of these people still have relatives in Italy, Serbia, Germany, etc., that are at their wits end with Muslim Immigration. Europe is becoming a basket case in their opinion.

It is difficult for me to hear some of the stories when I have some wonderful friends who follow Islam. BUT it is just as ignorant not to discuss the situation and call people like Anning racist because they offer a different view to your own.

Debate them, you may actually learn something yourself, you may also help enlighten them to your side of the argument.

It is very hard to hear any voices when everybody is shouting in outrage!

I have to ask - what are "do-gooder crusaders"? I suspect I know the answer but I don't want to make assumptions.

I would imagine a lot of it is media driven.

Also many of them are devout Christians, an older population, and not meaning this in a derogative way, but of a low educational level.

When I state low education, by no means am I saying they are stupid, because they are far from it. To me education is a lot more than just tertiary, and I have found over the years that people from a narrow educational corridor seem to be those most easily influenced by radical ideas and agenda. This goes for both sides of the argument by the way. This is purely my observation and opinion.

Both mainstream and social media drive the divide, as OUTRAGE has become good business. Our media has let society down greatly.

As I alluded to before D, it is almost impossible to hear anything when your mouth is constantly shouting.

I don't think that Anning is only looking for headlines or that he has caused a tempest in a tea cup. I think he is a malignancy who wants to wind the clock back.
He probably needs to consider the attitudes of some Australians which were common with each wave of migration. Anti English, Anti Irish, Anti Italian, Anti Greek, Anti Lebanese( Mr Katter), and now Anti Syrian, Anti Iranian, etc, etc.

"To participate fully in the process of making new laws and debating public policy, senators need to be well informed."
    https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Senate/About_the_Senate

Anning is a fool when he uses "factually incorrect" data to back up his statements. Similar to many xenophobes, he throws around wild claims that cause fear and unrest in people who don't fact check stuff such as-

my political goals are:.. to build coal-fired power stations to return us to the cheapest power in the world

First, 457 visas, which simply steal jobs from Australians, should be abolished unless expressly approved by the immigration minister.
    (Abolished last year)

We have black African Muslim gangs terrorising Melbourne.(beat up by media)

    Yes.

Again the media are setting the agenda, or at the very least propagating it.

Anning and Katter are not anti country of origin, you would be mistaken in thinking so. They are not propagating racism, as religion is not a race. They are propagating discrimination. Discrimination based on religion.

I do not know Anning, he may well dress in an SS uniform behind closed doors for all I know. I do however know Katter. I have had many dealings with him. Katter is not a racist, he may be a biggot, and he most certainly is certifiable, but he is not a racist.

Fear is a powerful emotion, it can make us do and think things we never thought we could, and it can also make us debilitated in action to stand against things we know we should stand up for.

Make no mistake those that disagree with you, believe they are as right as you think you are, and are just as pasionate as you are about getting their point accross......cue the shouting, and then it starts. Neither side hearing the other, and therefore no reasonable resolution can be reached. A vicious circle of name calling, blame, and false statements, all the while the truth and reason are swept to far corner of honest debate.

What's so good about the Far Left, other than mass starvation, incarceration, gulags, killing fields and the rewriting of history?
