“Facebook to restrict sharing or viewing news content in Australia Facebook will restrict publishers and people in Australia from sharing or viewing Australian and international news content. The move will also prevent people overseas from sharing Australian content on the social media site” ABC news today. does this mean the death of FB in Australia!
@Sallyally How's Your Lockdown Goin'? That good? Imagine your Winter when besides colds, flus, The Covid Walkers will be among you And there will be lockdown resumptions all over again. I mean look how successful it has been all those other times. It is good to be retired these days
Fine. We’re unlocked. We’ve already done a winter and it wasn’t too bad. At least there was no flu. ps. Retirement is good.
https://news.sky.com/story/facebook...ully-over-australia-news-media-block-12221617 I'm with FB on this one. If Australia didn't impose a charge on FB to provide this public service, then they'd still be able to use it. Australia charging Facebook to share news sets a bad precedent in the world, inspiring the likes of the EU to follow suite; and if the EU are all for it, then that's a warning sign that maybe it's not in the best interest of the company.
FB is a behemoth which would be irrelevant without the news content it uses. Why shouldn’t FB pay for the content which it uses to attract consumers?
Attempt to comprende Freedom - such as UnFree - , Australia Not Free - Russia, China Chinese & Russians know they are Not Free & Australia have delusions they are Free The UnFree don't have the perceptions to know the difference of UnFree and Free. This Facebook episode demonstrates the differences as does being "fined" for Not Voting. Moi Got FREEDOM less & less
I don't know anyone who gets their news from FB. I think you're confusing FB with Google because Google is where people get the news from. FB is where people get funny pictures and videos and random games like 'which colour am I' from.
I don’t either but I haven’t used FB in years. “According to a newly published Pew Research Center report 55% of U.S. adults now get their news from social media either "often" or "sometimes" – an 8% increase from last year. About three-in-ten (28%) said they get their news "often," up from 20% in 2018. As the Pew Research's reporters noted, "social media is now a part of the news diet of an increasingly large share of the U.S. population."” https://www.forbes.com/sites/peters...their-news-from-social-media/?sh=7272537c3e17
Don’t quote freedom at me Moi, your definition is different from mine. Someone needs to tell “the Zucker” that he’s not in Kansas any more.
It's about advertising revenues. The news media which generate the content are losing advertising revenue to companies like Facebook and Google who merely broadcast it. Without enough revenue the content providers will eventually go out of business. Without a free press freedoms really will be lost.
LOL And I Did Too! You want Go Selznick! Frank Capra too! Zuckers & Capra Tapped to an character lacking in the UnFree.
If you’d had compulsory voting, do you think there’d have been such a travesty as your last election and its’ sequelae?
What a pack of hypocrites! “China says it is "deeply concerned" by the Australian government's operation of offshore detention centres, and called for the sites to be closed immediately.” ABC news this morning.
Meanwhile FLOODING in NSW and parts of Sydney experiencing evacuations. https://www.yahoo.com/news/thousands-ordered-evacuate-australia-amid-052821979.html Australia's east coast is being hit by record rainfall, with flood warnings issued and a natural disaster declared for parts of the most populous state, New South Wales (NSW). NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian told a briefing Sunday western Sydney faced a flooding event not seen for half a century, while parts of the Mid North Coast were facing a "one-in-100-year event." Thousands are under evacuation orders in NSW. "Potentially another 4,000 people may be asked to evacuate in and around ... parts of western Sydney," Berejiklian added. The usually dry central Australia was another region facing flash-flooding threats from heavy rains. Wouldn't it be great if all that water could be drained to prepared basins for the GREAT Australian Lakes Moi also disposes of Fresh Water into the ocean. The GREATEST State, California saves it in reservoirs with an aqueduct distribution system
It's starting to become a little disturbing how frequently these once in a century weather events are happening.
Well of course all weatherisms fit their apocalyptic Global Warming beliefs The Cool Down is coming! And they won't consider the signs. Moi
“Temperatures causing red, white grapes to ripen at same time The Browns' decision to expand into Tasmania has been on the mark. Studies have confirmed that wine grapes are ripening between one and two days earlier each year due to a warming climate. Viticultural expert Professor Snow Barlow and his University of Melbourne colleagues have been observing the trend for decades. "This is overwhelming research ... we did a survey of 45 vineyards around Australia where people had long-term data sets, some back as far as 100 years, some back as far as 70, but the minimum was back for 25 years ... and that showed effectively that vintage was progressing or becoming earlier one day per year," Professor Barlow said.” https://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-06-05/rising-temperatures-spark-winemakers-move-to-tasmania/7371262
