Am I responsible for the actions of those in the past?

It wasn’t easy...men men had the power to oppress women. That’s like blaming slaves for slavery

 

I consider Affirmative action an example of positive reparation. Because of the oppression by white males, the oppressed are being given some help.

 

Ezekiel 18:20-22 "The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 22All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live."

Ezekiel 18:24 "But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

Ezekiel 18:26-28 "When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. 27Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.28Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die."



But does a person get 'killed' for iniquity? Does God destroy those who commit unrighteousness? No. Ezekiel 18:26 "When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them;.."

When a person 'dies' in his unrighteousness... When a person 'dies' without ever having turned away from his unrighteousness....

There might be a 'spiritual' death after the 'physical/bodily' death....


Does God destroy those 'spirits' which died in their unrighteousness/wickedness?

Probably not....


The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)


It is sin which repays the unrighteousness/wickedness with death.


"...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."


Does this mean that all sinner(s) will die?


Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"


Even those parents who sinned and maybe even died in their sins/unrighteousness/wickedness...


Does God like death? No.


Ezekiel 18:23 "Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?"


God prefers for the wicked/unrighteous to live....


Could this be a reason why God allows the sun to rise on the just and unjust?


Matthew 5:45 "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."



Do the unjust and evil deserve those things which the just and good receive?


Personal opinion(s). But what are some possible ways for the unjust and evil to be justified in receiving those daily blessings which the just and good receive?


Rehabilitation.
Being given knowledge.
Receiving help and assistance in turning from their unrighteousness/wickedness.
Law.
Judicial System.

etc....

The only exception to that is that you are responsible for liability insurance to protect the other guys car on public roads. Not exactly the same but still worth a side note.

In a way you are as a member of society. Society is ultimately responsible to change past injustices, which it has done to a large extent by getting rid of Jim Crow laws, passing civil rights laws, women's rights laws, etc., but you have a responsibility as a citizen to support those changes and act to level the playing field.

Nice theory, but since slavery was legal, no illegal means were used in the acquisition of wealth and no lawsuit can prevail. The German theft of Jewish wealth is not relevant here since the slaves in question had no wealth and nothing was stolen from them. What's more, the Civil War wiped out most of the wealth of southern landowners, so whatever wealth they had acquired from slavery didn't get passed down to their descendants. Finally, most black Americans have at least some white ancestry, and a good deal of that white ancestry came from slave owners, making most black Americans equally liable for reparations as the whitest white man. Game over. No reparations for you.

 

Emancipation, and the civil Rights act were help.

Taking reparations from completely different people because they are the same race has the person that impressed the ancestors is racism. Affirmative action is not reparations its racism.

 

So where does it stop? I want restitution from the Normans.. when they invaded in 1066 they took everything my family owned.

 

Affirmative action I think is a reparation. Black people and women were denied access to things that white males enjoyed like networking systems and the legacy passed down from generation to generation.
How do you suggest leveling the playing field.? Did you complain when white males were the recipients of affirmative action? It just didn’t have a name

you can't prepare that its history it's over, it is essentially set in stone. I don't think of hermit of action is reparations I think it is compensation for people who feel guilt.
