I know expanding government’s control of the medical/insurance business is the last thing we need.

Medicare and Medicaid pay 20 cents on the dollar to medical providers. And my family doctor retired earlier than he wanted to because of Obamacare.

    Govenment is just a cluster.

    That's funny.

When my two adopted girls were still foster and subject to Medicaid, we had a hard time finding physicians that would actually see them in a reasonable amount of time, or provide the same level of service as they now receive on our private insurance.

Doctors, like everybody else, is in it for the money. They can speak a tall game when considering their oath but when the rubber meets thebroad their story changes.

And when they lose the option of making 300k to 500k so that healthcare is affordable to all Americans they will adjust.
Just like big pharma and medical suppliers.

Why should the entire population suffer so that a handful can get rich?

Suppose the government ran the car sale business. So you go in to get a car. It's $26,000 but the government pays just $2700 and car dealer must give you the car with all the paperwork, and your private coinsurance pays $400 on the government maximum allowable amount that can be charged, and you pay zero.

Nobody would sell cars. You could not get a car.

So the solution to our record level of illness is to do more of what is making/keeping sick?

Sounds like a good argument against Medicare for all/Obamacare.

you get what you pay for, if they get paid less, the quality of care becomes less
They should really be focusing on dental with their puny insurance coverage for stuff that costs a lot more than a regular doctor

Hmm.. American College of Physicians sees the humongous cash cow that is the American taxpayer? And they want their hand in the pie? Whodda thunk it? Damn greedy bastards. If they are so worried about it, they should all open free clinics and give their services away for free.

    Lol.

Or they stop practicing, move, or find some other method of making up the difference.

I really dont want my surgeon as disgruntled as the worker at the Drivers Facility.

With your desire for socializing medicine, dont expect people to go through 10 years of college to make the peanuts you think they should so people can get healthcare.

My profession averages $250,000 a year at my education, level, and experience. People are willing to pay me those fees. Who are you to tell me I have to work for less to service people that can't afford me?

Hate to break it to you, but you are advocating for slave labor.

Yes, it’s so easy. If Americans want healthcare then we only need to do one thing, care about our health.

Healthcare doesn’t start with the govt. Healthcare doesn’t start at the doctors office. Healthcare doesn’t start with insurance. Healthcare starts everyday with the person we see in the mirror. From proper nutrition to exercise to positive thoughts to healthy life choices. Now granted there are people with ailments beyond the control of oneself, but those are a very limited amount. The majority of health problems can be easily corrected by lifestyle changes. Poor diet, lack of physical activity and substance abuse are the cause of the majority of healthcare problems.

What’s the chances of this child to have a healthy life?

I see diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure in this child’s future.

Where will they move to, the US pays more than any other nation for similar levels of education.

I don’t think they should make peanuts, thats absurd. Why is something that works fairly well in every other first world nation on earth something that we just cannot achieve.

Depending on if your service is a basic right or a luxury item... and it isn’t me, America in general is growing tired of the “but I need my fifth yacht at my to get to Monaco, why can’t you all just suffer”...

You have no idea what slave labor is if you believe it entails people making a reasonable salary for their work. I would understand your narrative had I said they had to work for free, but I didn’t — your fearmongering is noted.

How do we bring about those lifestyle changes when people / parents have no incentive or desire to do so? A specific political party is trying to gut our education system, making healthcare a luxury item, refusing to tax or ban items that are harmful and demanding people that do not want children to have them anyway because they dared to have sex.

I’m with you brother. I honestly don’t know how to instill healthy life choices on parents. What I see at the grocery store, the shopping malls and even the playgrounds I bring my grandkids to is unbelievable. I just thank the good Lord that my kids all grew up being health conscious.

Stop complaining Joseah, we give you a barn to sleep in, and we feed and cloth you. Now get back in that field and pick that cotton.

Here is an idea. If those countries socialized programs entice you so.. why dont you go there? Why do you advocate fundamentally changing the concepts o our capitalist country?

Capitalist? That's HILARIOUS! Our medical industry hasn't been capitalist in generations. That's the biggest part of the problem. And make no mistake, there is a problem.

Three weeks before Christmas 2018 my wife was diagnosed with pre-cancerous cervical dysplasia. Her OB-GYN advised an in-office procedure to remove the cells. We schedule the appointment and show up for it. My wife's english isn't perfect so she demanded I be in the room to translate any pertinent information. We were denied this request and kicked out of the practice. Two. Weeks. Before. Christmas.

A call to the insurance company and they tell me she needs a referral from her Primary Care doc, who is on vacation until January 15th. Finally contact him and his office emails a list of local OB-GYN's. None of them have any openings until late March/early April.

I say, "screw it", and put her on a plane to her home country, which has "socialized medicine". She goes to the hospital, gets examined and provides the medical records from the practice who booted her. She's told to report to the hospital the next day, which she does, and a LEEP is performed on her cervix. Her out of pocket expense was roughly $500, and that was because she chose to be anesthetized instead of remaining awake. Otherwise it would have been free.

Single payer healthcare cannot get here soon enough.

We are speaking specifically of physicians salaries, those are most certainly determined by the labor market a capitalist principal.

You asked to be in the room to translate, and they're immediate response was to kick you out of the practice?

Somehow I'm doubting that's how that went down.

And which country did you send her to?

It’s sad, especially with very young children — they have no say and the neglect of their parents will most likely be a life long habit.

That is exactly "how it went down", even after I showed them my nursing credentials. Their policy was "no one in the room but the patient", which had changed from the previous year when I was allowed to translate for my wife.

My wife was born in China.
