I know it was a tribal society which was at best only losely connected. Doesnt mean it was uncivilized. They find artifacts here like the sky disc of Nebra that shows amazing level of knowledge from the shaman caste.

His family never owned that land during the time of East Germany. They some how managed to get it after the fall of the iron curtain and the annexation/reunification.
Quiet a few of the privileged upper class in East Germany did that. It was a crumbling society and with Vitamin C one could enrich themselves on government property.
