Interesting, and they do not seem to know why. Maybe people are finally realizing the "they're gonna take your guns" is a talking point.

American Gun Sales Collapse in 47 States
    https://247wallst.com/special-report/2022/08/08/american-gun-sales-collapse-in-47-states/
Changes by state show why the national number has fallen so sharply. Sales appear to have dropped in 47 states. Some of these drops are dramatic. In Illinois, which once ranked among the states with the most gun background checks per year, the figure dropped 63% in the first seven months compared to the same months in 2021. There is no obvious reason why this has happened.

    That’s fascinating

I wonder if the overall price of guns have increased or inflationary pressures are to blame?
Its been a while since I bought one but historically a Democratic president is a boom for gun sales

I haven't bought one in a while either, and yes, when a Dem is in office the NRA usually ramps up the propaganda and people rush to the gun stores to buy more.

The following speculation comes without having read the article, so corrections to my understanding are appreciated (but try not to be too rough about it). Remember, that these statistics are only as compared to last year's. They do not mean, though, that a lot of people aren't still buying guns, only that the pace has slackened. What I am thinking is that perhaps this pace had included not just new gun buyers, or people buying a backup weapon, or even a third firearm, but people who have been stockpiling them like they were a grandmother's peppermint wheels. If many of those individuals are reaching the point, simultaneously, at which they have got one of pretty much everything, so the allure of a "new," gun has somewhat been spent, on them, and you add in rising prices, a bit of an economic punch, for some of the buyers (maybe even a running out of place to keep them all), and these people, even if they still buy a gun-- but after having averaged perhaps 2 guns a year-- finally nearing a surfeit of weaponry, is going to put a real dent in the market, until there are enough of a new generation with an equal, both of the former market buoyers' compulsion, and of their expendable income.

Maybe people can finally spend their money on graphics cards which are finally available after the bitcoin crash.

Or, people ran out of the free money the government is providing. That's how Kyle got his.

Or, we might be reaching market saturation and since most guns don't wear out that quickly . . .

I did both. Guns and graphical cards are a great combo.

This is nothing newsworthy. Gun sales always rise, then drop, then rise again. All it takes it one big incident for it to fly right back up. Wait until election cycle or the next mass-shooting or whatever else pops off. As soon as politicians start barking about guns, millions more are sold. The gun industry is literally booming.

Sounds like you are saying "people have eaten their fill". While theoretically true, it has never happened before.

Guns are like potato chips. Once you eat one, you have to have another.

Back? I have not noticed it had gone anywhere.

With 1808 and the PLCAA bill looming, you'd have to be ignorant of Democrats latest efforts to ban nearly all guns.

It’s harder to buy guns with Biden’s inflation but really do hope it helps bring ammo back on shelves. You can find 9mm, 223, 45 acp, .40, all day long but my ammo I shoot all the time like 45-70, .22 LRM, .45 long colt, 30-30, .44 mag, are all hard as hell to find. Not to mention reloading supplies like primers and powder.

Prices still aren't where I would like them to be..

But they have dropped a LOT. Mine will be 5 years old in a few months. I got a good one, so I don't really need one, but I would love to upgrade to 2K.

I’m honestly impressed. May I ask how you found that so easily? Is there a search engine you’re using? And if so can you find large rifle magnum primers? Or 209 primers?

I think it could be a supply problem. Product shortages have decimated our industry.
