People are getting mad that they are being kicked off the next round of stimulus checks. Will Biden and the Congressional Democrats face the heat for "their" act of changing the income rate needed to qualify for a stimulus check? I hope not. Just remember, if it were up to Republicans, we probably wouldn't even have a third-round stimulus check.

Also, Americans are getting accustomed to these checks, and, also, the Treasury Department head Janet Yellen has said that they are getting even faster at distributing checks/direct deposits into people's bank accounts. The system for a Universal Basic Income (UBI) is getting set up right before our eyes. We should talk about this now because we only get what we ask for. And, it's in the cards. :)

You can blame Joe Manchin for that. Biden has to do what moderate dems in GOP state say.

TBH, it kind of pisses me off to see the other proposal that parents would get $3600 per child for kids 6 and under and $3000 per child for the over 6 kids.

This is unclear. Do you mean a COUNT (of children #1 - #6) and (#7+)

    OR

Do you mean an age range of (6 and younger) and (between the ages of 6-18?

Oh, do you not have kids? 'Cause I don't have any. If these checks were coming over the long term, I would think it was a wake-up call, from the government to its people, to start having babies. Lots of babies.

It annoys me because too many people I know ride the government benefits gravy train already and the ones with a bunch of kids will be getting even more money for doing nothing. If it were simply a non-refundable credit or a even bigger deduction for those who actually work, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Want to save money? Don't have kids. I know because I don't have kids.

Well, what circles are you in that many of those you know ride the "government benefits gravy train?" Is it possibly biological? Because if that's the case, that many of your acquaintances have a disability, then you're either extremely lucky to have avoided their fates, or you may have something worse in the future to look forward to. :(

Anyway, having kids, lots of kids, is good for the country. We have a population crisis where we're not reaching a replacement rate of population growth.

I live in a relatively poor city. No it isn't "biological". It is cultural and they get away with it because there are no real safeguards to detect the scammers. Businesses that don't officially exist with employees that don't officially get paid with incomes not reported, people who 1099 each other just the right amount to maximize their Earned Income Tax Credit refunds, people getting disability checks running around putting roofs on houses and such, people claiming other people as Head of Household to get extra credits. The amount of just flagrant grift is sickening to me and it isn't confined to just the poor people. Businesses that only report the money they get in checks, landlords demanding rents in cash that never gets reported. We are becoming third world.

It's easier for the government to send everyone a check instead of putting in conditions to filter people out. And, safeguards just means more expensive bureaucracy.

Those people who are scamming the system are just hurting themselves because they are going to lose higher Social Security benefits for failing to report higher wages. Chances are, they will end up locked up in a nursing home in their old age.

I ran across this today...Looks like they added in some perks for themselves this time around. Basically, it's $1,400 for the average citizen (with conditions, as you mentioned) and $1,400/week (for up to 15 weeks) for the feds.

    I

I am EXTREMELY ANGRY that I’m left out yet again!! The Dems went overboard in giving $1,400 per adult PLUS $1,400 per kid AND $3,000-3,600 per kid. This is beyond ridiculous!! Politicians are creating a group of very entitled people while neglecting single ppl who might be lucky enough to receive the piddly $1,400. Democrats suck!!
    I won’t vote Dem again-ever!!

Oh, yeah, I can tell you're angry. You signed up and your first post was made to voice your anger.

Anyway, you gave yourself away. Just how much do you earn that you didn't get a stimulus check in the history of all three stimulus checks? Someone should compare their requirements.

Is this all still a tax return advance? Or is it actually 'free money' now?

I have no idea. I guess I'll have to wait and see how my taxes turn out. I'm still waiting on some papers and I will probably file late this year, so I don't know. But, let me tell you, I don't get tax refunds, ever.

Lol. I earned between $175-185k gross in 2018 and 2019, which were anomalies because I had a good salaried job PLUS a small business on the side. I quit that job in late 2019 and would now comfortably make below $75k from the net income of the business. The problem is that I won’t get any of this free welfare money until I file my 2020 and 2021 taxeS, . Even though I’ll eventually get the money, I’m still against that the Dems went overboard in giving EXCESSIVE money to ppl with kids. It is too much pandering to people that they obviously prefer over all others. I work hard for everything that I have. It’s insulting to give me $1,400 while giving people who either don’t need the money or don’t even pay taxes. Everytime they pull this crap, I get to watch orgasmic rubes gleaming with this free money while I get nothing. Then there’s the reality that these ppl receive a small proportion of the 1.9 billion, but don’t complain they are getting something. If there is no obvious budget ceiling, the orgy money should go to everyone, not just some. Why leave those out who pay so many taxes?!! I feel as if I’m working to support everyone else to give them pleasure- like a slave.
My best friend has a high-comp job, works his azz off and gets nothing every time as well. It is hard to pay household expenses as a single person. People like him deserve to get something and not get screwed every time.

You mentioned a business. What about the PPP forgivable loans? Did you not qualify?

A friend urged me to do this, but it has restrictions. First off, my bank of 20 years would not process it because I did not have a BUSINESS account since I act as a sole proprietor. Plus, you might remember that it was a cluster. The ones with accountants, corporations and megachurches are the ones that were ready to roll with it and made bank.
As a single male with no kids, I am screwed if Dems win more offices. I will reluctantly vote Repub for the first time in nearly 40 years. I am disheartened, discouraged and disgusted by what the Dems are doing.

Hmm, I'm sorry to hear that you still didn't qualify after Biden made some changes to the PPP loans to support sole proprietors.

Thanks. I’m in the process of reading the legislation. I may find something in there that I can use. Title X gives $10 Billion in International aid. It would have been great if they cared as much for working Americans.
