I watched that for the first time in my class about the history of the workforce in America. It was pretty good. But I thought it was funny in a lame kind of way that Moore finally gets a hold of the guy he's trying to find at the very end and the conversation is basically: "Will you come down to this place, I wanna show you some things" "no" hahaha

 

In reality, our biggest ghetto is all over the country where the influx of crimaliens deepen our sad level of organized crime.......

 

This thread is forgetting THE central precept of the left - "it's George W. Bush's fault". Like Obama was trying to tell us (over and over and over and over... again) - "George W. Bush drove the (Detroit) bus off the road and into the ditch - Obama and the Democrats are working diligently to get it back out of the ditch and back onto the road once again" - err... something like that. So, the next step in our understanding is to realize that we must move on to the second great precept. The reason the (Detroit) bus is still in the ditch is because "the party of NO" keeps blocking all of the Democrat's valiant efforts to get it out of the ditch.

These rationalizations have pretty much become standard fare. I'm shocked that they were so readily forgotten in this case.

Which usually includes everything related to the 2008 recession and anything that smacks of pro-management and/or anti-union - all of which could be used to make him the scapegoat for the wasteland that is Detroit - that is, with merely a minor amount of creative effort. We don't usually see such a lack of creative effort on the part of liberals. Hell, they've created full-scale "WARS" out of little more than hyped, exaggerated imaginations. There's the conservatives' war on women, war on children, war on the elderly, war on the poor, war on science, war on education, war on the middle class, war on the environment, war on Earth, war on Islam, war on... blah, blah, blah... - all of which are pure bs, requiring quite an impressive amount of creative effort to successfully propagandize.

 

Well, the general thrust of liberalism is that we should make poverty as comfortable as possible. No need to fear getting pregnant at 15, and thus it's not a big surprise that such pregnancies are much more common now than in 1912. And other policies are much the same -- why bust your hump at a boring job when you can lay on your butt and watch TeeVee?

It's a situation that produces two major problems. First, since there's no penalty for bad behavior, you get lots of it, which means that lots of people simply have no idea how to be productive citizens. They become a net drain on any resource. Second, since there are more people needing the help because of said bad behavior, the programs cost more money, which means that more taxes must be raised on a shrinking productive workforce. That workforce eventually gets fed up and leaves, and the system collapses.

High Local and State Taxes along with persistent, recurring and vicious class warfare rhetoric along with ruthless labor union "don't do the company any favors" politics and vicious exploitation of their employers made the entire manufacturing sector of Detroit completely uncompetitive in the face of globalization and killed all prosperity and hope.

Conservative policies of lower taxation, and less burdensome social welfare responsibilities and a less spoiled, fat and lazy non-unionized workforce would have been better placed to deal with the onset and transition to a globalized marketplace.
