Lucky Gunner finally has 5.56 Nato M855 PMC X-Tac green tips back in stock. Still a little on the pricey side. https://www.luckygunner.com/pmc-5-56x45-ammo-for-sale-556x45mm62fmjm855pmc-1000 They also have some pricey Speer Gold Dot 9mm 124 gr +P rounds available. I read through several reviews a few years ago and for 9mm ammo Speer Gold Dot at 124 gr seemed to be one of the overall most favored rounds. https://www.luckygunner.com/9mm-luger-p-124-grain-hp-speer-le-gold-dot-50-rounds And they have 22LRs in stock too for plinking about, https://www.luckygunner.com/22-lr-40-gr-cprn-0030-cci-100-round
A local guy is advertising two and three quarter inch chamber length 12 gauge rifled slugs for a dollar around I guess that's pretty good
Lucky Gunner has a wide selection of that as well. Rifled slugs seem to be going for about that price. https://www.luckygunner.com/shotgun/12-gauge-ammo-shells
Prices have come down (knock me over Rover!) but availability around here is still spotty at best- 45 ACP is still cheaper online even factoring in shipping. I'll take good news even if it's a small dose.
Various govt agencies did indeed buy up vast amounts of ammunition and contributed to a supply shortage in the civilian market back around 2012/2013. But so far as I know, that is not the case now. I've been looking into it, and while I would love to be able to blame the gubmint, it doesnt seem to be the cause this time, at least not directly. What we're seeing now is an unprecedented surge in civilian demand for ammo. Long-time gun owners have been buying all they can get in response to an anti-gun administration that has promised sweeping gun control reforms. That combined with the crime wave and defunded police sweeping the nation that has created a lot (20 million iirc) of new gun owners that are also now necessarily in the market for ammo, manufacturers cant keep up with this record demand. I suspect manufacturers are hesitant to invest in more supply capability because this always happens (granted, not to quite this extent) when an anti-gun administration comes into power- supply ramps up with people fearing a future lack of availability, then drops off again after no gun confiscation squads show up to declare war on the American people. So manufacturers have to be careful in expanding because they could lose their ass when demand drops off again. But it hasn't yet. It seems, for now, the manufacturers are just backlogging orders with the expectation that the rush will soon subside. If it doesn't, they will expand to take advantage of the demand hike. Quite frankly, I love seeing no ammo on the shelves anywhere. I have enough already that I'm not desperate for more, and the empty shelves mean more and more of my fellow Americans are finally taking their responsibility for their own self defense seriously.
Recently found a 11mm Mauser I want to get. Ya think that'll be reload only or do y'all think I might find ammo for it?
I'm with you on that. Ammo is still scare around there parts and although I have plenty I would always like more. I know that a lot of this ammo is being bought up by established gun owners simply stockpiling but the myriad of new recent gun owners are contributing as well. And for me that's an acceptable reason for every store shelf around here to be bare. I live in a place where literally every single friend and neighbor that I have has an actual armory in their homes. Some larger than others. And I feel 100x safer here than I ever did living in a city. We've been Constitutional Carry around here long before it was the popular fad of State Governments but recently I've seen even more open carry than I did in years past as well. Nothing quite like seeing a nice woman casually grocery shopping with her kids and a .357 on her hip. While I get irritated that I still can't purchase the ammo I want, knowing that she probably has some it well....I'm alright with that.
I try to avoid having anything to do with firearms now, but I did buy OLN and POWW about a year ago. Check the chart for OLN. They are obviously manufacturing ammo as fast as they can.
I ordered from them last September and still have not received my brass. I would call ahead and speak with Jeff before ordering.
I have about 10k of each of my favorite rounds squirreled away but I see prices subsiding. I want to get my reloading operation going, but still looking for small rifle primers.
Interesting. Did they refund your order? What was the problem they had filling it? Those Mauser rounds are pricey.
California has required a firearm type background check for just ammo. It will be challenged and probably will be stayed during appeal. When that happens expect another shortage when “once burned” Californians start panic-stocking.
They did refund and I was able to find the brass elsewhere. They had a long list of reasons. I would order from them again, but would call in advance.
Just out of curiosity, I looked around and you may want to give the folks at RAREAMMO.COM a call http://www.rareammo.com/Rifle-Ammo_c_877.html I didn't see 11 mm Mauser listed but they may be able to tell you where else to look. Good luck...
