If you are black, brown, red, yellow, or white, once you peel away the skin we are all the same underneath. Whether you belong to the republican or democrat or green or constitutional or libertarian party there is far more that unites us than divides us. We can have differing views and argue them vigorously without losing respect for other views. In such environment there is no place for demeaning expressions such as some of the more colorful terms some have used for democrats or Trumper, for example. We can also refrain from making sweeping general statements based on a single factoid. I hope to find that here, but what I have seen while lurking gives no cause for optimism. And yet, hope springs eternal. I can already see that the moderators ignore context when censoring words or phrases
Some people have NEVER and would NEVER have the idea that all races are equal. Others don't care enough about X group to want to bother with changing their stereotypical views. That's the purpose of stereotyping. I think you're correct that something has to change, but, that cannot begin to happen until people start communicating with one another.
One of the benefits of serving in the military and especially if you've seen combat is that you quickly learn that blood type is far more important than skin color. When s**t gets weird, you really don't care about another person's skin color or political views.
