No Pres Trump, has no understanding of past political alliances, and fosaking allies, will certainly not "make America great again". That themed policy, of US unilateral actions, only caused more sacrifice by the US public for the Iraq War. There is no arguing that the US can do anything it wants without consequences. In addition, it sends messages to out other allies, that we may not be loyal to them either, it is poor policy, plain and simple.

Trump viewed alliances as bad deals for America, he considered the ledger the books and saw the mobilisation of the EU federalised super state.
He withdrew from these bad deals because other countries were giving America mouths to feed in return for jobs.
He saw the bigger picture and asked, what's in it for America? What's in it for the winners?

First, you are using things not meant by Merkel as talking points. She was talking of just climate. She has this wild notion that you and me are actually managing climate. Yes, for humans to impact on climate has to mean we think we manage climate, though poorly.

When I fly over the Pacific Ocean and see nothing but a heavy layer of clouds, I ask how the hell can we humans manage climate. We have no control over clouds.

I was sitting next to an airline captain who was headed to pick up his aircraft to fly it to Chicago and we chatted a short time about climate. Both of us happened to train at the same airport and both were checked by the same FAA flight inspector and both of us know mutual friends. I told him it had to be a chance in the millions we had connections.

Anyway, i asked him if many pilots accept this about human caused climate and he said maybe half the pilots agree. He does not accept it. I do not as well.

Consider the Earth is only 75 percent land. The rest is oceans. If that does not mean something to posters, they do not understand climate and what drives climate. Climate is the wrong term. We have a wide variety of climates. Carbon Dioxide can't run all climates. Simply not possible.

What I am saying is that it is definitely not settled. Clouds have far more impact on climate than does carbon dioxide.

He saw China taking the spoils of war, the rise of ISIS, Merkel, and said
    Enough is enough.

Trump has no duty to forsake Germany or not forsake Germany. He does have a duty to this country.

All this is is over climate. If Merkel is this much a fanatic over climate, she has no place being in charge of germany.

Why do you put Macron and Merkel above Trump? Macron over his refusal to let go of Trump and Merkel due to her snit over climate?

I would guess that Putin does not like the US troops put there by Obama and kept there by Trump on it's borders.

Do you really want US troops on the border of Russia?

Do you really think Obama put those troops in Germany in 1945 and ever since then?

We didn't need to take out Saddam. Bush, the father knew that Saddam much like Tito in Yugoslavia was the only thing, the only man holding that country together. Neither were nice men, but both knew how to keep their country stable.

Bush the son should have had a long talk with his daddy before going into Iraq and removing him. A strong man at times can hold the different factions, tribes, what have you in a country together that once he is gone, total chaos and war among themselves take place. Better Tito and Saddam than what followed.

We can have real good relations with Germany without NATO. NATO also has been used to be a worlds policeman at times. Libya comes to mind.

Well Merkels speech yesterday was a bombshell.

It is interesting because Media all say whats going on.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...ec59a9bf4b1_story.html?utm_term=.7991e19a2e9d

For over 70 years Germany and USA were close allies. What Merkel said yesterday was a total shift in evrything.

Media say its a tectonic shift. And today german foreign minister Gabriel said that USA is no leading nation in the world anymore. Which steps a bit above chancellor Merkels comment.

For 70 years it was the USSR and later russias greatest goal to divide the alliance between Germany and USA.

What Russia couldnt do in decades, Trump managed in 2 days.

His europe trip was a complete desaster. He broke a 70 year old alliance. And its not just Germany. France and Italy agree. And with this Merkel has the ability to close the EU and make the people clear, that Europe can only stand alone.

    Its interesting

The writing is on the wall, Trump is toeing the Putin line and agenda. People is the USA still can't bring themselves to see it and it's right in front, square and center.

Let Germany say and do what they want. Their little economy is of no consequence.

Obama put them into Poland and even more than that. Obama had them arrive January 12, this year as one of his final acts of war making. You will of course supply me with the map showing Germany borders Russia, sooner rather than later I expect.

    Map to help you

$22 trillion is what's square and center. Our Gulf vets deserve investing in. Our nuclear deterent needs $1 trillion in maintenance. F-35's need paid for. Let Frau Merkel add $1 trillion to Germanys debt if she's afraid of Putin.

They can't afford it. $1 trillion is like 40% of Germany's GDP.

I am slowly warming up to the F-35 even though the F-22 Raptor could knock it out of the sky. We are so poorly manned with the B-52, at least the F-35 can carry a bomb load. (I am saying the B-52 is an old airplane, final new one delivered in 1962)

Supposedly it was also NATO bombing the former Yugoslavia for Bill Clinton. They have no authority to attack. Check their charter. Clinton illegally used NATO. It was just the USA bombing Yugoslavia.

I must say the nonsense written from soem americans here is amusing.

What exactly is ther problem? That Germans says USA is not trustworthy anymore and that we shift our orintation away from USA? That Germany as the leader of Europe takes entire Europe away with it?

Trump is not very intelligent. He ruined the European - American relations in the last two days.

Merkels speech has no influence on USA. Its our own foreign concept. Trump made with his behavior clear that USA doesnt want be allied with Europe anymore.

Thats ok. Time to move on. Thats what Merkel said.

So far Europe did always follow. This is over. It generates much more chances for us now.
