We both served there when the Soviets were mighty. NATO for me ended when Clinton used it to wage war, only using our aircraft and not NATOs.

They have fully met their current responsibilities. The 2% pledge is not one of their responsibilities currently.

That might work for poisons, not for climate.

Did you read the Curry forum's reports?

There are scientists that accept that temperature first rises followed by carbon dioxide.

I presented, months back, the precise formula that governs this and it proves carbon dioxide is not our enemy.

Secretary of Defense James Mattis declared that “the political reality in the United States . . . the fair demand from my country's people in concrete terms” is that American allies must increase defense spending by year’s end towards a 2 percent GDP target. If they don’t, the United States will “moderate its commitment” to them. Mattis elaborated, “No longer can the American taxpayer carry a disproportionate share of the defense of western values. Americans cannot care more for your children’s security than you do.”

This is abject nonsense. We were with you in Iraq, in Afghanistan and our lads were dying next to yours, so don't give me any crap about not pulling our weight. Furthermore we travelled halfway around the world to kick the Argentinians out of the Falklands, with no help from you. Your sense of self-importance is badly misplaced.
In conclusion American forces in Europe number about 40,000, as against 1.8 million European military personnel on active service, so what are you actually doing here?

It is one of their responsibilities. They simply don't want to, and they expect America to defend them.

CO2 is how nature stores life between warm earth cycles. The natural range is 0.02% to 0.7%. At 0.04% we are barely above carbon starvation, and yet even this tiny bump is greening the earth, as natural process working through DNA convert CO^2 into life.

Why are "progressives" always against life?

If NATO falls apart, and it won't, but the slackers will pony up more of their fair share ('thank you Trump!) we would most certainly continue an Anglo Alliance, you know the folks with the mature democracies that can actually fight!

Don't waste your breath preaching to "progressives" about responsibility.

That goes for Trump, too. He should be dismantling NATO instead of telling the Europeans to pull their own weight. The post-WWII Cold War era is over - it's time our alliances and commitments to those alliances reflected that reality.

They're Socialists. Socialist demand the right to free-load, or they will pitch an even bigger tantrum.

Thatcher was wrong. The war was won on the ground.

There are legitimate scientists who disagree with the basic tenets of climate change. They make up about 2-3% of climatologists. And while temperature can rise first, roughly 90% of the temperature change will occur after the rise in CO2.

They figure we can spend so they don't have to, and they can lecture us on the joys of socialism, BECAUSE WE ARE PICKING UP THEIR SELF DEFENSE COSTS!

Are you really unable to comprehend the notion that the 2% pledge was to be met by the year 2024 and that the current year is 2017?

I have noticed the studies show that Earth is now greening. I don't doubt there is plenty of Carbon Dioxide, but having more won't harm things either. We are still recovering from an earlier ice age.

Can you see two humans chatting when the Great Lakes was frozen with a glacier?

    He to her

That glacier is melting. We must take action.

    She: What action

He, we must stop making campfires.

    She, you enjoy cold?

The war in Bosnia certainly wasn't an invasion of Europe which NATO was formed to deter. Neither was Europe invaded by Libya, more recent history. NATO has been used offensively, a tool for offensives war instead of defensively.

Uhh... food growth explodes under high CO^2 warm earth conditions. The dinosaurs were not farmers, and food was EVERYWHERE.

Good! I support warmer temperatures, higher CO^2 levels and less desertification. But given the current configuration of the continents, my guess is that I will be disappointed, and that the earth continues in its current ice age, no return to warm earth conditions, but, hopefully no glacial advances.

20,000 years ago, Chicago was under a mile of ice, think of what that would do to the Electoral College.

Apparently we are supposed to be butt-hurt that they may refuse to free-load off us. In fact, once the free-loading ends, I expect several of them to approach Russia and offer neutrality, which is always what was going to happen once the free ride was over.
