So, in your view, the minority should always dictate their views over the rest of us?

No, which is why the EC is such a wise solution.

Its not just a popularity contest.

So much for the Orange Oaf's promises. So much you caring about the truth.

One of us is an economist ... and it ain't you.
I notice you ducked this one.

It's not you either, since you're a "teacher". You didn't happen to be responsible for giving AOC an economic degree did you?

Oh you wanted an answer for something stupidly obvious. I thought that was rhetorical.

    They ask.

Actually, the EC made the 2016 election into a popularity contest, and we ended up with a "popular" TV personality with absolutely zero understanding about what Presidents actually do, or knowledge about the government of the country they are President of. He's the least qualified President in U.S. history. If the EC favored the qualified, Hillary would be President right now. In my view, the EC failed to provide us with competent leadership in 2000 & 2016, so I support eliminating it & going to direct vote election of our Presidents. At this point, I trust the individual voters more than I trust the EC.

As you probably surmised, I disagree with Reagan that "government IS the problem." I think the problem is the individual leaders who are currently, temporarily in government, and we have the power to change that in the next election.

I did that last election and picked the underdog/outsider.

    Will do again.

If you mean Trump, I wish you had higher standards than simply voting for the "underdog." Your underdog turned out to be the most incompetent President in American history. If you're proud of that vote, I wonder what kind of America you're voting for.

He just may be the best POTUS of my lifetime.

    He's on track.

I said I almost feel sorry for you. Then I think about your continuing support for the sicko you helped inflict on the country. You're clueless enough to fall for his propaganda about how he's done wonders for the economy.

Real wages have gone up about 1% in two years.

Trump hasn't changed the trajectory of this...

There are brief periods where things look like they're improving a little--the second terms of Regan, Clinton, and Obama--but they always fall back.

Trump hasn't changed the long-term trend because he hasn't done the big things we have to do to get sustained higher growth ... changing tax laws to get more private (and public) spending on infrastructure, R&D, and business investment, and worker training. As a society, we have to save more and put less into dead assets like residential housing and motor vehicles. I could go on. There's a long list of things we must do to get faster growth. All Trump has done is get a little extra growth at the end of a business cycle with a Keynesian tax cut that's driven the federal deficit from $500b to $1t.

Federal tax revenue dropped while spending on entitlements and defense kept right on growing.

The real GDP is growing about as fast as it did in 2014-2015.

    Gullible you. Oh, well...

BTW, I don't think for one minute you'll even try to discuss the points I raised.

How do you think he's the best President of your life? What values are you using to determine that? He's on track to what?

Who are you kidding? You haven't had the gumption to touch the issues I raised about the economy.

    Exactly. [IMG]

Ms. McDougal looks perfectly capable of taking care of herself and making her own decisions.

Too bad they aren't still on good terms, she looks like she would make an excellent health and fitness czar.
