How about this, if you feel that moderators are over worked why don't you trim back the rules. This site came to prominence when it had a reputation as a loosely moderated forum with a minimum rule set. The previous worlds largest political forum was basically crushed by the ego of its own moderation staff which caused a massive influx here because of its reputation for loose moderation. Of course most all of those mods who were active commentators are long since gone. A trip through the way back machine will show you that the rule set in 2008 when this forum started gaining prominence was 1,200 words. Today its 2,400. And you wonder why your mods feel over worked and that there are too many loopholes.

Many Liberals feel on this site feel the moderation is in the tank for Conservatives, get way too much leeway. There are quite a few moderators and greeters from The Quorum. It hasn't gone unnoticed. Just an observation of things I have read...

That might have been true at one point, but it seems like the owner of the site has consciously made the decision to tip the scales back in favor of progressives with a new moderator who has more power than the others, and with a new set of rules. Like Don said, the recent actions are indicative of where this is going. We will see, though.

At least the conservatives forum is on site so moderation and admin can see what is going on, as opposed to liberal trolls who have an offsite forum.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Where else could they coordinate their agitation of the leadership, here? That's how the left gets its way on the street and in society, it would be no different online.

It should have been obvious that I am not arguing about this particular website or any other message board in particular....what I am talking about is the internet in general and how the American Concept and tradition of freedom of speech needs to be guaranteed on it...which obviously would require some new legislation.

The point I am trying to make is that Freedom of Speech is under general attack and particularly so on the internet.

Now one would think that message boards devoted to politics and other various topics requiring input from people on the internet that the owners of such sites would be receptive to the idea of free speech because it generates interest and support.

Yet what I see(not talking about this particular site) is a general trend of dictatorial control...now I have said before but I will say it again...some of the worst I have seen have been so called conservative boards....at least that is what they call themselves...in truth they are politically correct republican boards and they are the worst around in my opinion in regards to Freedom of Speech...no wonder the morons have lost the last two Presidential Elections and are positioning themselves to lose another one unless they wake up.

The fact seems clear to me that no one really knows how to run a message or if they do....they are not really devoted to it. Perhaps they do not have the time and really do not care that much. That is why if any owner of a message board really wants to have a good board they should keep a thread like this up and running...they could learn much from their readers and posters...if they are serious about wanting to improve the board.

If this thread stays up awhile I am sure they will get a lot more response than they are currently due to the fact many are afraid to speak up because this sort of thread is highly unusual and most probably do not know what to make of it...but once they can see the owners are really interested in getting feedback and ideas then I am sure they will see a lot of creative ideas on how to improve the board and a better knowledge of the problems posters see and what posters like and do not like....I mean it sounds very simple...and it really is...but I have never seen a message board where the owners sought ideas, comments and feedback in general from their readers and posters.

Freedom of speech is not being limited. Was is stipulated is how to respectfully do so. Its clearly stated in the mission statement.

The code word will be "respectful":

Disparaging Christians? Respectful, informative, and thought provoking.

Pointing out 72 people being shot in the heart of the Democrat party's base of power- Chicago? Racist hate speech designed only to incite.

That's a very stupid statistical analysis.

As a rule of thumb, studies require 1,000 examples to be considered valid.

Also, a shutdown in Current Events is often because it's in the wrong section. The third section is where to do the analysis.

Also, Trayvon and Mrs. Kerry aren't, on face, liberal or conservative topics.

But what is liberal or conservative about Martin/Zimmerman?

I disagree with your baseless opinion and dismissal. Your original argument was not substantiated or supported in any way, so I'm not sure what level of refutation you are expecting.

Then ABC News, Time, PPP, USA Today, Reuters, CBS News, IBD/CSM/TIPP, Associated Press, CNN, Bloomberg, Newsweek/DailyBeast, and LATimes should be notified that their sampling methods during the 2012 Presidential campaign were not valid according to screen name JEFF9K.

My sample size of 5 was more than enough to lend doubt to your unsubstantiated bogus claim.

Even if that were true, it would be irrelevant. Your argument was that "ANYTHING GOES for a conservative thread poster", not that conservative topics were given a pass. I showed that 4 out of 5 recent thread closures were created by conservatives, which brings into doubt the accuracy of your unsubstantiated claim.

Have fun! Though an apples to apples comparison to my scenario would be if you and your libertarian buddies went to other forums and coordinated plans on how to appeal to moderators here on the need to silence the non-libertarian people.

Well, this turned out pretty much the way I expected it would sooner or later. It was a lot of fun while it lasted, and we got some really good input out of it. I want to thank everyone who made an effort to keep it positive, because I think there was a lot of value here. Everyone take care, and we'll pick some of this up again in a few days.
