Glad you found the info helpful. Those same keys can also help you quickly navigate word processing documents and PDF files and other websites and other kinds of files. Just experiment with them on different kinds of documents, you'll find lots of uses for them.

    Scenario:
I click Reply to a message.
It comes up in the reply box.
    I type some response.
I think about it and decide to not respond at all.

    There is no Cancel button.

If I just leave the page, <- and come back to it later, I still see my message.

If we are into colors, the options in the Search function are illegible, at least on my setup.

Okay...and if you do not click the post button...it just stays there.

That feature IS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the old system....where you would lose everything if you accidentally left a page where you were posting.

NOthing worse (in the old system) than leaving and losing the entire post and being unable to retrieve it.

AMEN! My tablet constantly shuts down... It's a 1st. Gen. iPad.... I'm nostalgic that way...

Anyhow, there were countless replies I just gave up on on the vB format.

Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to set up a dummy thread. A place we can practice using the various options available in this new forum software. For instance, I often want to use multiple quotes. But I'm not sure how it works. And I hate to screw up a 'regular' thread as I practice and experiment.

There's also supposed to be a way to Cancel a post at the last moment. I haven't figured that out, either. There's also a link/unlink option. What's that for? And some people have said they have problems posting images. The dummy thread would give them a place to practice.

Then, when the thread is no longer needed, and becomes inactive, the mods could delete it (if they wanted to).

Even just switching comment editors for profile / status posts could provide the training grounds, per individual member.

What do the tiny pair of eyeglasses, next to the reply column in a thread, signify? I hovered my mouse over one pair of glasses and the little yellow box that appeared said: "watched." But, watched, by whom? And why?

There are several of these pairs of glasses in the Opinion Polls forum.

If you comment to a thread, by default you are then watching, or following that topic.

Getting used to and liking and good work by the forum crew takjng an dimplimenting suggestions. One thing I do find different is in the old forum the quick reply opened just below the post to which you were replying. The new reply opens way down at the bottom and on some long post where I have to go back to that post to see exactly what I had said to which the poat was responding. Gets a little tedious.

I don't know if this is something that can be addressed but the force select all when highlighting a single line is quite annoying, especially to somebody who types on multiple lines like myself haha.

To reproduce what I'm referring to input at least two lines of text and then drag the mouse from right to left attempting to highlight the lowest line.

Notice how if the mouse is not stopped precisely between the first character on the line and the text box container then the entirety of the text in field above that line is also selected.

Not a huge issue but it is a distinct difference between this CMS and the last one.

Not seeing that issue. I can drag it to the left edge of the screen and it doesn't select the upper line unless I move it up to that level.

You might try ctrl + shift + <-.

Is there any option that can be made available to enable users to decrease the size of long quotes or large images included in responders' posts? I ask, because some threads will have many responses, and many posters will include the very same L-O-N-G quotes, in their entirety, for reference.

Maybe it could just be a small icon we could quickly click on, that will quickly "fold" a long quote we've already seen five or ten times. That way we could just focus on the post's answer, rather than cursing the inclusion of yet another tired, over-used, reference quote.

    Thanks for considering our requests.

Don't know if this helps or if this is what you're looking for but there is option in user preferences:

[ ] Show people's signatures with their messages

I think not. A "click to expand" option is available globally, but the site owner turned it off.

Thanks for your reply, but I already have the signatures option checked (to not show them).

In my post I was referring to the long quotes in a post that a second forum member is responding to. For instance, your quote that I included directly above this reply. Only sometimes posters will include really long quotes, like a full page, or more, of text — then it is sometimes repeated many times in following posts. They can really kill the flow of a thread.
