How about we start by making sure there is ample armed security on every floor of every school.

    Gun control schemes are dangerous.

I agree with safely storing guns. Michigan apparently doesn’t require it, however most states already do. But, consider how easily that requirement can be abused by a state to make gun ownership and use entirely untenable, virtually eliminating a Constitutional guaranteed civil right. Death by regulation.

What I find most upsetting, each time there is another school shooting, is that nothing seems to be done. I'm not proposing anything myself - I'm not advocating for anything. I'm simply saying that when something like this continues to happen and the government (both sides) do nothing, we are not living in a country where leaders care about their constituents.

Schools have a duty to protect children while they are in school. School shooters should have to get past armed security.
Instead schools are Gun Free Killing Zones.

Your description of what the parents did or did not do comes from news reports which seldom very reliable.
Assuming everything you say is true they were at a minimum willfully reckless if not outright malicious and will certainly be sued if not prosecuted.

IMO, your conclusions are spot on.

You don't have a gun epidemic.

You have a violence epidemic and a too-lenient justice system that does absolutely nothing to punish those who illegally possess firearms and persons who commit violent crimes in any meaningful way that might actually pose a deterrent.

Whether you believe the proliferation of guns is responsible for our unique gun violence problem or not we have a epidemic of gun ownership.

The gun was purchased legally. The gun manufacturer doesn't control how products are used. Their responsibility ends when they ship the product to an FFL holder. I might suggest adding the school administration be added to the list, however.

Um, no, an epidemic is the widespread occurrence of an infectious disease.

Have you been vaccinated for gun ownership? Let's see your vax card.

I'm not a lawyer but I did hear on TV that Michigan doesn't have a law making parents responsible for the acts of their offspring. Some states do, not Michigan. I think manslaughter in any form is probably a hard conviction. I would like to kick the father in the teeth for buying a gun as a christmas present for a problem child, It is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to own a handgun in Michigan so the father is certainly guilty of contributing to delinquency at the very least. I can't even imagine why they charged the mother. I think manslaughter is overcharged personally. My guess is that there will be some sort of settlement. The shooter, on the other hand, deserves a life in prison or in a mental hospital.

The term is often used to describe common undesirable activities. I think he used it properly.

So its undesirable for civilians to own guns for self defense. Got it.

Please point to where a gun manufacture went up to this kid and convinced him to kill 4 people. I'll wait for evidence of your claim. But I won't hold my breath.

You mean a mental health epidemic. I am sure lockdowns were not helpful.

It would also reduce bullying and drugs in schools if there was a constant presence like that around.
