As if we needed more proof that the greens and the ALP are on the way out!!
From the WA election we see a 9.1% swing TO the libs, 1.2% TO nats, 2.3 AWAY from alp, 3.3% AWAY from the greens and 4.7 AWAY from others...
    Roll on the federal election.....

    yeap,
you are right, we are becoming the most southern state of Northern America, worse then Texas. Rednecks in WA have voted, and are increasing by the day.
What a shame, where are we heading to?
One day we will clap our hands, when boat people drown, we will become more of a brown nation then Hitlers Germany was.
Mining Tax and Carbon Tax will be abolished, we won't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about the environment anymore, and Abos will let to rot..
We will fall back in medieval times.
    What a great future......

    Hey cats

You dont have to be a greenie to be environmentally concience, most aussies are and NO there not greenies.

The carbon tax and AGW are scams by the elite to tax our energy use the carbon tax will not decrease our CO2 output so why wory if it is recindered.

If you are worried about pollution then we are set to increase our amount of CO2 by 2020, the only only thing that will save us from a hefty find at the hands of the United nations is going to be the purchase of carbon credits.

Is this how you want pollution to be cleaned up in Australia?????????????

By the farming and selling of carbon credits while CO2 emissions just keep on rising?????

All the cleaning is on paper nothing in the real world.

What a nast, bigoted little post. Not a good sign of tolerance, the way you abuse people who don`t follow your own agenda, try to pin nasty labels on people. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "One day we will clap our hands, when boat people drown, we will become more of a brown nation then Hitlers Germany was", the "policies" of the greens on this issue are ludicrous, so mind bogglingly stupid that words fail. The simple fact is that Australia can`t possibly hope to make any appreciable difference to the plight of the billions of downtroden, abused people on this earth. To encourage assylum seekers to come to this country is incredibly callous, short sighted, and small minded.

The minign and carbon taxes are nothing more than cash grabs, with absolutely no environmental benefit whatsoever. The greens have tried to set themselves up as paragons of righteous virtue, heroically standing tall upon their home made pedestals of self satisfaction, but it`s all such an obvious farce, that increasingly more people are seeing through their sham as time advances. In today`s tolerant society, it`s all to easy for intolerant parasites to live off the system, and get away with it, for a while. There is no place in a productive society for completely unproductive professional whingers.

As for Aborigines rotting, the simple fact is that the biggest handicap for the vast majority of Aborigines, is their own attitude. Self sympathy is one of the most destructive elements known to mankind, but the greens fan the flames of Aboriginal self sympathy, to suit their own political purposes.

Have to agree M2, things will only get worse when the libs control federal and states. The coalition have taken a liking to the American style of conservative politics, which is to twist the story and be as negative as possible at any cost to the people and relentlessly bombard the public. While the mainstream media leans deeply to the right, labor will always face this problem. They will need to learn to use a different tact to counteract this type of politics and somehow go straight to the Australian people cutting out the middle man(mainstream media).

Well of course WA is voting Liberal, they want to abolish the MRRT and Carbon Tax so they can keep more of their mining revenue to themselves. Meanwhile, manufacturing in the rest of Australia suffers from their mining activities pushing up the dollar, pushing up house prices, etc.

Bankers are responsible for pushing up house prices or setting the conditions to do so.

Their policies are a bit of a worry. I work for myself but I wouldn't want to be a wage-earner under a coalition federal and state government.

I feel very sorry for you as well as your kind for not seeing the signs.......
Nothing wrong with the Carbon Tax, and nothing wrong with the mining tax.
After this election (I am worried more is to come on a federal level) I have to regard mainstream Australians as small minded, listening to the fear mongering right is one of those reasons.
Someone labeled us as a sheep nation some time ago, and I guess he was right.
How stupid can Lib voters be, to fall for this crap!
The Greens are desperately needed to balance the Libs off, before its too late.....

The desruction of the greens will be the best thing that ever hapened to Australia.

Who really gave us the carbon tax was it labor or the greens? or both?

And by the way having minority parties doesn't always guarantee s safety net for the people.

John Howard may have wanted the GST but who helped him to pass it through the senate?

    Wasn't it Meg Lees???????????????????????

    What a crap!
If petrol reaches $3/liter, you will use your car less or buy one, which uses less fuel. That's all, and guess what, it works. The Carbon Tax is just that. It forces people to rethink their actions, and look for alternatives. It works in other countries, it will work here.
But due to the fear mongering right wingers we do what we always do, nothing. Can't wait till Adolf Abbotts hits the stage, and you soon will realize, how far we drop back. What a shame, a nation like ours, with a mindset from yesteryear....

Absolutely, take holden for instances who decided to end production of commodore due to the fact people are moving to smaller cars. People are much more conscientious about waste than in previous years.

Holden has stopped producing the commodore as a pre cursor to pulling all manufacturing out of Australia. They may still run an assembly line, but manufacturing will stop within five years. It wasn't because people have stop buying them and switched to smaller cars ( why wouldn't you given the price of fuel and lack of necessity for such a large car ). This may of been their excuse but the real reason is the cost of manufacturing here in comparison to overseas.

TV I do agree that we have all become more savvy in regards to waste, and rightly so. We could all go a little bit further in my opinion.

Just a quick question Cats. What will your argument and or excuse be if this country prospers under said Adolf ? Or if his policies work ? Would you concede that he actually did know what he was doing ? Or would you just continue the usual diatribe and make excuses ?

Not having a dig, legitimate questions as I know you are a greens supporter and don't really follow either major party.

Both the ALP and the Greens, rely too much on touchy feely, and not enough on real world solutions.

My car is extremely economical, the bikes are the ones that slurp petrol, but you digress. When I said "What could ever be a greater exercise in fear mongering than the carbon tax?", I was referring to the statement that the carbon tax makes. - "Give us billions of dollars, or you are going to burn in hell!" If that`s not fear mongering, Christine Milne is a babe.

Really that is all that will happen? Do you consider that cost of living will increase incredibly due to transport costs? Or do you consider that people will just go down to the wharf and pick up their own goods? People will continue to migrate toward the cities leaving the rural sector, reducing the populations that creates food for your table. I know you think this is a good thing (as a greenie) because man will no longer be killing the environment to grow food.

Yes it does work, it makes many more people POOR. But you can ignore them, because it is not you.

Let us look at your claim that more boat people will die... How many boat people died in 11 years of the Howard government? How many died in the last 4 years? I think your actually just upset because your precious party would appear to be died in the water.

If they actually had clear and unobtrusive policy then maybe they could be considered as a party to keep others in line. but due to the fact they have short sighted policies and total lack of consequences of their policy because they do not look beyond their agenda they will always be considered to be the joke of Australian politics. Their performance of late has demonstrated their total absence of ability and hypocritical stance of the party. You only have to look to Tasmania to see with the purchase of Gunns to demonstrate their hypocrisy.

You still have to come back to the fact that conservative policies across the world have been destructive. Again, the decline at every turn during conservative governments in Australia is evident in the past 40 years. Everyone focuses on the John Howard era as a measure for conservative economic proficiency, but as we all know now, the Howard government rode off the back of a huge global boom. I would never trust a conservative government in lean times and certainly not fony abbott who has already stated his intentions of austerity. When he implements his austerity measures and all fails, he will blame the labor government because of debt, despite the fact that they overseen the lowest debt per GDP ratio in the western world. Australian people, thanks to the media have not given credit where credit was due. Costello himself couldn't pick himself up international acclaim, due to the fact that the rest of the world were over performing during his time as treasurer, "so it wasn't just Australia doing well". Swan had to battle through hard times to be named the "International Finance Manager of the year award".
Nobody stops to think why Costello didn't receive anything. He was given false acclaim by the Australian media and an indication that people weren't looking outwardly to see what was happening in the rest of the world.

I am extremely confident a conservative government will ruin us. Just look at the facts.

    Slippfish,
can't see the Germans workers earning less compared to our Aussie workers, so how come their car industry is blooming?
They build cars, which people want. Cars for a modern world, using less fuel........

Would you like to see a man leading our nation, who has no vision, none at all? Can you see him on a world stage? A negativist, who believes females should go back into the kitchen? Stopping the boats, meaning pulling the plug? You can't be serious.

It is a good point you make Cats. The Germans as a whole are far more industrious and nationalistic than we are here in good old Oz. Whether that be bourne through hardship over the last few centuries or whatever. We are a nation of spoilt self obsessed individuals that can't see to far forward of where we sit in the present. The Germans main strength is manufacturing as they have little else to produce income on a large scale, so they therefore treasure what strengths they have and use them and promote them into their future. Not us, we squander them, like little kids with a dollar in the lolly shop. Its not really a political problem it is how we think as a nation. This is generalising, as I am well aware of individual viewpoints, but they seem a minority.

Our manufacturing sector and the lack of not only government support, but also consumer support, is a national shame that we are all going to feel the ramifications of in the near future.

    Garry,
my example was to the Carbon Tax, which some believe is destructive, and I believe it is a good thing.
Have you never asked yourself why we pay so much at Woolies or Coles? That has nothing to do with the Carbon Tax, but with extreme greedy Aussie cooperatives.
We traveled Europe last year, there is hardly any country, asking that much for groceries as our folks. Not even in Switzerland.
There is no need for being ripped off, but both Libs and Labor are not protecting us from those cooperatives.
I see the Carbon Tax as a chance, for our planet to heal, and for us to move forward from an ever more destructive path, which we will keep following even more under Libs then Labor.
For our planet to survive, we need men with big visions, and Abbotts isn't one of them.
We would have the chance to sell clean sustainable energy to out neighbours, if we only wanted to, and what are we doing?
Yellow cake to India and else, coal to everywhere.
    I rather be a dreamer...........
