As I pointed out, you are the one who tried to distort and lie about the OP, bozo.

Every post you've made has been complete bullshit straight from your denier cult/fossil fuel industry propaganda pushers.

You claim the Antarctic is warming, I gave you a link from NASA that says it's cooling. Your argument is with them not me.

Nope! Look over the thread....I never said that.

In reality parts of Antarctica ARE warming up and other parts are staying the same for now or even cooling slightly. Nothing is happening that contradicts AGW.

Actually, you made the bogus claim that Antarctic sea ice was growing and I pointed out the evidence that your statement was false....

Livefree said in post #1067198756: Why do you lie about this? Sea ice around Antarctica is at a record low.

The graph above shows Antarctic sea ice extent as of March 5, 2017, along with daily ice extent data for four previous years. 2016 to 2017 is shown in blue, 2015 to 2016 in green, 2014 to 2015 in orange, 2013 to 2014 in brown, and 2012 to 2013 in purple. The 1981 to 2010 median is in dark gray. The gray areas around the median line show the interquartile and interdecile ranges of the data. Sea Ice Index data. - Credit: National Snow and Ice Data Center

Antarctic sea ice is nearing its annual minimum extent and continues to track at record low levels for this time of year. On February 13, Antarctic sea ice extent dropped to 2.29 million square kilometers (884,000 square miles), setting a record lowest extent in the satellite era. By the end of February, extent had dropped even further to 2.13 million square kilometers (822,400 square miles). Sea ice extent was particularly low in the Amundsen Sea, which remained nearly ice-free throughout February. Typically, sea ice in February extends at least a couple hundred kilometers along the entire coastline of the Amundsen.

I'm well aware of your dogma and have given up trying to have a reasonable discussion with a zealot. If I saw you at least once post in here on some other subject than AGW I could maybe take you seriously but until then I have to think I'm talking to someone who's not all there and I just don't have the patience.

Edit: it's a good sign that you now admit the Antarctic is getting colder though. I may be having a positive effect on you.

Why do you lie so much?

I said PARTS of Antarctica may be cooling slightly and other parts are warming rapidly.

The Antarctic Peninsula is particularly sensitive to small rises in the annual average temperature, this has increased by nearly 3°C in the region in the last 50 years, this is about 10 times faster than the average in the rest of the world. This makes it an excellent study area.

The temperature of Western Antarctica has also risen by a comparable amount, this is the region attached to the Peninsula and stretches to the Transantarctic Mountains.

I disagree with you on this, since the record temperature for the Esperanza base is real, but the new reporting on it is misleading since it has nothing to do with "global warming", since it was an 8 hour weather event caused by a Foehn wind.

It appears that nobody bothers to check on the cause of this short term warm event. The link didn't say anything about it at all. The story Vegas posted was misleading, dishonest as they didn't bother mention the CAUSE of that short term weather event.

Jeff Masters explains that it was a FOEHN wind that caused the quick warming event:

"A strong high pressure ridge and a Foehn wind led to the record temperatures as Jeff Masters explains here from his blog:

This week's record temperatures were made possible by an unusually extreme jet stream contortion that brought a strong ridge of high pressure over the Antarctic Peninsula, allowing warm air from South America to push southwards over Antarctica. At the surface, west to east blowing winds over the Antarctic Peninsula rose up over the 1,000-foot high mountains just to the west of Esperanza Base, then descended and warmed via adiabatic compression into a warm foehn wind that reached 44 mph (71 km/hr) at 09 UTC on March 24th, near when the maximum temperature was recorded. A similar event also affected Marambio on the 23rd."

What's fake news about it is the say it's used to verify a hypothesis

That was the point of my comment, CO2 effects has nothing to do with a natural event, at the Esperanza base camp.

So, if we are paying attention, point records are only valuable when they affirm (or at least appear to affirm) the AGW narrative. Any other specific point value records are simply viewed as weather. The absolute arctic cold record was also achieved this year. But, for the faithful, that's just weather, because it doesn't support their opinion or the dogma behind AGW.

Not at all, the article failed to inform readers that it was a WEATHER event of just a few hours duration, that caused this surge of temperature. Then they make it appear it was caused by "climate change", with ZERO evidence to support it. But they at the same neglect to inform the readers of a weather event that has happened there before.

Jeff Masters explained it in the link I provided, which tells us what really happened, not the vague sensationalize record high the media screamed about. The same media that never explained what really happened that day, using actual data for that day. They just say it was climate change....

It was skeptics who provided the true story all over the place, to show that it was a local phenomenon, as most the region didn't warm up beyond a degree or two, because the FOEN winds occurs under specific conditions that involve mountain terrain. The two spots that got the huge temperature sure were on the downslope side of the mountain ranges.

Since I was one of them..... In any event, I was making the same point.

    Ok, got it.

I tried to show to my brothers the actual data of Esperanza base, for that day, to show that it was a wind caused phenomenon, It warmed up rapidly over a three hour period, then started dropping back down to near freezing late that SAME day! They ignored it,sat on the amorphous "climate change" pablum.

    Some people can't think rationally......

Tommy, can you point to me one, just one demonstration of CO2 effects or at least one CO2 effect?
I am not even asking about any machine built on the claimed by scientists effect, and I don't know why I am not. There is an abundance of CO2 and one of the claimed effects of it is that it can warm up things. Why I am not asking scientists to put the claimed by them effect into work to heat my house near the north pole or to warm up anything at all?

I thought I made it clear, that CO2 didn't cause that weather event?

At my climate forum is a section that discuss the postulated CO2 warm forcing as being unproven,I allowed it as part of being open minded, which I noticed is not a popular position. I have known for a while that it is IMPOSSIBLE for CO2 to cause global warming. There is a simple reason why it can be said,EVEN if you allowed that CO2 has a warm forcing effect, it is still too small to make the atmosphere warmer.

The Sun and Ocean dynamics is what drive temperature changes over time, NOT a few trace gases with tiny absorption ranges in the IR spectrum.

    From your own link:
Studies show that globally, the decreases in Arctic sea ice far exceed the increases in Antarctic sea ice.

So there is still a net global loss of sea ice to be of very real concern, and still supporting the 90% of scientists who stand behind climate change theories. The highly-paid oil industry lobbyists will continue to misinterpret data, and put out false studies. It's important to stay on top of the big picture, and ignore their well-financed lies.
