The problem is that our foreign policy is not run by logical human beings, it is run by a bunch of paranoids who fear Russia with a passion. Americans have no animosities towards the Russians, nor do we fear Russia, but Poland does... something which goes back to the historical East/ West divide between the churches under the Pope, and the churches that weren't. This animosity hasn't ceased you know? They are still fighting in the Ukraine over whose churches belong to who.

Joe Biden was picked as VP because he could pull Pennsylvania with him and by doing so, the Democrats could win the election. Pennsylvania is the stronghold of the Eastern European Catholics. It is where they live and where they vote, and they all have their affinity towards the West, as well as their antipathies towards their Eastern non Catholic neighbors. They were one of the reasons the U.S. supported Croatia during the break up of Yugoslavia. It is also one of the reason we supported Bosnia, even though both Croatia and Bosnia were aligned with Nazi Germany in WWII... But then again our former enemies Germany and Japan, have now become our best friends, so you figure? :disbelief:

As for Ukraine, no matter how much the Western side screams in its paranoid fervor, they ain't gonna get away from Russia. I suggest they shut up and leave the country alone. It has much too many problems to go around playing these geo political games.

Greece is in the E.U. and most of the people are suffering dearly because of Germany's demands and high interest rates. Basically Germany owns the E.U., so will Ukraine fare any better? How about Portugal and Spain, are they faring that well?

Before the U.S. showed their indifference towards Russia, by illegally entering the civil war in Serbia, Putin had planned on industrializing and raising the Russian people's standard of living. What we did with Kosovo though, made him realize that the only way Russia could survive our geo strategic games, was with a strong military, and that's where the gas and oil money has been going.

Americans do have animosities towards the Russians, and Russia. its a pure racial hate before they have covered this hate by cold war (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4D96fPl_hI) before , they do it by "mafia"today . Klitschkos are 2 the best boxers of all times. Americans are simply don't want to pay them or even recognize there greatness , but the fact is no one American boxer has had a chance against them. all just check out any American film with "Russians" characters , all "Russians" women there got fuc%ed my Americans(spies, bums, priests , etc.), name one American film where an American women has free-willing had sex with a "Russian" character ? reminds me an other story ...

The Ukraine has basically been split into three factions every since the collapse of the Soviet Union. They are partly geographical in nature and partly ideological and they are represented by the three main political parties. One is pro-Russia (the Customs Union crowd) who want close relationships with their big brother (double meaning intended); one is pro-Western (they see the Ukraine as just another modern European state with all that implies) and there is the Ukrainian nationalists who want to maintain a fairly independent stance (usually because they want the opportunity for greatly increased corruption).

All Ukrainian politics can be seen as the interaction of these three forces and their temporary alliances and splits. Joint membership in the two organizations would be great for the Ukraine as it could serve as a conduit between the two with whichever weaker economic entity taking advantage of the stronger (I'll leave it to the PFers to decide if that is the EU or the CU). Why that stronger economic entity would allow such a damaging situation to exist or continue is the obvious question.

Just an aside, but I think the opportunity for greatly increased corruption is what drives the states' rightsers in this country, too.

The E.U. realizes now they made a mistake in Greece. It was an experiment that failed miserably. They know this, and yet they are continuing it. Is this a repeat of the German racist policies? Are they trying once more to decimate the untermenschen...because that is what they are doing. The cold calculating indifference to human life is unbelievable, and then they want to talk of human rights in places like Russia? Well this says a lot for the E.U. and its human secularism.

The only way this situation in Greece can change is if they were to pull out of the Euro zone. That way they will be able to adjust their currency the way Iceland did, but they can't. If they do then Greece will not be allowed to re-enter. Greece is locked into Germany's high interest rates, and one can only wonder why Germany is doing this? Is it so Germany can grab Greece's immense energy finds in the Ionian Sea and the south of Crete? :confuse:

I think the Bulgarian and Romanian control has to do with the Gypsies entering Britain, or maybe even Muslims, but they can't say it because then it would be racism, so they just want to stop everyone from coming from those countries. Why did they want the Eastern European countries in the E.U. anyway? Is it so they could surround Russia? If so why? Is it to please the Poles, Eastern Catholics, Turks and Jews? Well if it is, then they have a large lobbying block in the U.S.

Of course I'm guessing at all of this, but it's an educated one.

Putting the evil Rasputin with the Angelic Holy Royal Martyrs doesn't give one a good impression of them now does it? I am sure the Church of Russia, as well as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church doesn't approve. There is one break a way Orthodox Church in the Ukraine that is not recognized, and it might be them.

    As for these question:

Russia wants the Ukraine with it. Many of the people in the Eastern part speak Russian and are under the Moscow Patriarch, so they feel close to Russia. Also the Crimea has always belonged to Russia, and has strategic importance to it. If the Ukraine left Russia's orbit and went westward, the possibility exists that the Crimea might end up part of Turkey because of its large Tatar population. Basically Russia is fighting for its survival because of its own large Muslim population and Turkey's ambitions in restoring their Ottoman Empire. But Putin is smart. He confiscated all the computers belonging to non profit German organizations, and kicked them out before they could arouse people and cause mass protests.

As for the U.S. and E.U., they want to gain control over Russia's mass resources and feel the fears towards Russia by the Poles, Eastern Catholics, Jews, Turks and gays gives them a moral right.

These are just my opinions from what I know, so take it as you may.
