I'm speechless. Do you think this is a good idea? Can a woman who use one of these be protected legally for the damage it causes? Me, I'm all for it. Consequences of attacking someone.

Christ, imagine if the woman forgot she had it in and tried to get it on with her lover?

I don't know how I feel about this, it seems kinda sadistic - like it goes further than necessary to protect the woman in an attempt to harm the attacker.
I think more cultural programs would be better, this has the potential to complicate the situation and cause more problems. And after this becomes widespread enough to change anything the attackers will know to check for this and take it out.

omg I saw this on Facebook the other day. This is such old news. This story is from 2005. I remember people talking about it then too. lol

Anyways you have to remember the anti-rape condom was supposed to be used in a place where the probability of being raped is very high for a woman. One critic said, "This is a medieval instrument, based on male-hating notions and fundamentally misunderstands the nature of rape and violence against women in this society."

And the creator of this device responds by calling the Rape-aXe "a medieval device for a medieval deed." I fully agreed with her.

Also just fyi the device has never been mass produced like they implied it would be in 2007. In fact we don't know if they will ever make these things.

And rape isn't sadistic? Rape is extremely sadistic. This device seems like a perfectly good response to such behavior. Start teaching sickos not to put their wick where it's unwanted.

Hey, I am all for something that would prevent rape. I just don't know if making it public is a good thing...so now would be rapists wait, for the intended person to remove such device, and or check for said device?

    Two things can happen.
A- perp wonders if a woman 'wears' the protective device and thinks twice.
B- perp knocks woman out prior to the actual rape, checks, and punishes woman according to his already sick mind.

I might have a weapon for back up. Makes a perp wonder if he should come near in the first place.

I like the concept of it, but wouldn't the device cause the man's penis to bleed, thereby still putting the woman at risk of contracting or passing HIV?

Truthfully, I wouldn't want a potential rapist anywhere close to me. I'll just rely on my own anti rape device, a Sig-Saur p-290.

Don't rape women, all of a sudden the existence of the anti-rape device is moot.

What was that? Was that Wolverine solving the problem with one sentence?

    I think it was. lol

It's a weapon. I imagine the legal consequences and protections depend on the circumstances under which it is used, same as a gun, knife, taser, bear trap, or electric fence.

thats horrible, the idea of a man being overpowered by a really strong homosexual, they should design this for men too while their at it.

that would be consensual though, if the guy is attractive, smells good, and theres a connection then there is obviously no fear. but if the guy looks really big and hairy like the bears and they wanted to force themselves on another guy then this device would get em good...

however a secondary weapon like the women have suggested would be needed if the bear were to get angry.
