I've been watching to goings on about the three Australian anti-whaling protesters taken into custody by the Japanese.

Now, I'm totally against any kind of whaling world wide. Bit for the life of me why does the media interview these alternate lifestylers? You know the type, born again hippies who appear they haven't washed in weeks.

I wonder if these interviews are beamed into Japan? Because of this, I bet the Australian anti-whaling movemnent must be losing credibility in Japan.

Well, at least those three guys are doing something and stand up to their conviction, which cannot be said about our Federal Government....

Good on those men, and good on the Sea Shepard for bothering to do what our government refuses to do.
We need to send our boats out and force the Japanese bastards back to where they came from.

I agree Mak, but please have the media to choose spokespeople a bit more carefully.

I agree. They interviewed the partner of one of the men the other night. Hippy chick with feathers in her hair. Ugh.

I detest whaling but they are in international waters. What right does Australia or any other country have to stop them from whaling?

And the Sea Shepards act like pirates. Ramming Japanese vessels and throwing acid onto Japanese whalers.

They have crossed over into AUSTRALIAN waters. They do that every single year and every year the government does jack (*)(*)(*)(*) to stop them.

What right do we have to stop them from whaling? Its inhumane and they only do it to (*)(*)(*)(*) us off.

We should harpoon them and see how they like it.

Its no more inhumane than killing any other animal for food. its not like the Japs are cooking off the blubber and tossing the rest of the carcass into the sea, they actually eat these things.

Who do you think you are judging another people's culinary cultural delicacies?\

Whales are not humans and eating one is not the equivalent of cannibalism so stop acting like it is.

I didn't realize that they were in Australian territorial waters. Don't you have a Coast Guard that could deal with any whaler illegally entering your waters?

Because whaling is illegal but the Japanese somehow managed to get through some loophole deeming that their whaling is for "scientific research" They put a self imposed limit on their whaling which is around 900 Minke whales, most of the meat ends up on the menus in restaurants.

Jesus H Christ, how many whales does it take to kill for scientific research?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. As if. Why would our government bother to do that? Too much work involved.

No, the Japanese can enter our waters anytime they like and kill those whales and the government does nothing to stop them, but as soon as a boat load of asylum seekers reaches Australian waters, thats when they all fall over themselves.

The problem is they over harvest depleting the population and in they're in violation of international conventions.

The reason a blind eye is turned is because the world has no real moral standing to tell the asian peoples what they can and can't eat.

No, they hunt whale species that are in absolutely no danger of extinction. Not all whales are on the endangered list or protected. Several species have plenty to spare. Japs aren't out spearing humpbacks or rare blue whales.

If an animal is endangered or a protected species, we (*)(*)(*)(*) well do have the right to tell people what they can and cannot eat.

    You are so wrong!

Many whale species had been hunted to a point of almost extiction over the centuries. Their numbers are very slowly coming back but are still in a very tight balance between extiction and re-populating.

Not the ones Japs are spearing.

Over half a million individuals, I would say losing a few hundred a year is harmless and maybe even beneficial because the japs are most likely taking the older, less fit ones.

Believe me, if it wasn't for international pressure, the Japanese would be hunting endangered species also. They don't give a sh!t.

The point is, the Japanese are in Australian territorial waters.

How would you feel if China set up a fishing industry in American territorial waters?

To add, the Japanese have almost decimated the southern blue fin tuna population around Australian waters.

One or two ships a year crossing into the Aussie EEZ for a few weeks is not something to make an international incident over.
