Anyone Else End Up With Bad Hip Replacement

I ask this where I can as I like to hear other's hip replacement stories:

I am going on 11 yrs of being sadly very damaged from Anterior Hip
Replacement...I was left with:

Shorter Leg
Femoral Nerve Damage
IT Band Damage
Advanced Arthritis in Lower Back,
Leg, Foot, And Bursitis in Greater
Trochanter....all this damage on Right Side of Body.

None of this was in my plan and I don't think the
Surgeon planned it either, but that has been the outcome.

 

I'm sorry to hear that. Is it possible to have it replaced?

I would recommend that you find a support group online in which you can find other people that have had complications as they may know which doctors/surgeons are the good ones and possible solutions on obtaining the help you need to overcome or reduce your complications.

I can't tell you how I've searched for that one. Bonesmart is a big replacement forum BUT they support the medicine world and think the docs can do no harm....they ban people if they talk about the negative surgery.

 

My grandmother had three hip surgeries and ended up bedridden for the last fifteen years of her life.

 

Oh goodness, two neighbor ladies had 2 hips done and one lady had to have a re do on one as it crumbled after a
fairly short time. I live with the damage and would NEVER let a knife near me again. Some think if they do it again,
the doc can "fix" what was done, not so, more arthritis and more trauma to the body. THese surgeries are of the
dinosaur age and if I could do it over, ummmmm

 

Yes, I've experienced that. I have a permanent injury to a botched surgery and have been in the hospital at least 100 times in the past ten years. All the people on the support forum basically shunned me when I was looking for help.

However, my recommendation is to look for alternative options like curezone.org. They lean more toward holistic healing options and, like you and me, many of the people found their way there because they were rejected when they needed support the most after a surgery gone bad.

I lost all my personal property in a messy divorce or I could just pm you a list of all the alternative options I found. I have some things to take care of at the moment but I will do a search for you and pm you, if you are amenable to that idea.

I had a spinal pain blocker with AI surgery implant in March and it is working well though once the chronic pain is gone you can focus on the muscle spasm pain and arthritis pain better. I have had three spinal operations since 2011 and fortunately, they have all worked.

 

Oh thanks I've learned to manage what I'm left with, it's been a lot of labor, knee infection is another nasty one I went thru in 2016, another saga. I know that Prolotherapy can save people from invasive elective surgeries; ie replacements, and I've had som Prolo work but insurance does not pay...how convenient of the medical establishment.

Something that can save one is not paid by the money hungry durg and cut industry.

had lower back issue since 18 and now 84 soon and have done everything but back surgery, no way no how.

I can add this too since hip replacement in 2010, my body has lost about 3 inches, my 5 5 frame is now about 5 2 or so. Pretty crunched up...

I had not dropped in at Bonesmart for some time but one can check things out and not be registered, and OMG the revision after revision that people keep doing, and more and more cutting more and more arthritis sets in. A vicious deadly cycle of damage.

 

As a person who has dealt with many hip surgeries on a surgical ward, I can say there is not a 100 percent guarantee that the surgery is going to work. Many surgeries are helpful and of course you are going to hear from the dissatisfied customers on social media. Some walk away happy, some have a slight improvement, some end up worse off. There are no guarantees as with any surgery.

 

That could be age related shrinkage.

 

It's mostly our real parts are sawed out and plastic and metal parts are forced in their place. Our body structure changes majorally. If you have Never had it done you do not know.

 

Well, l have watched both my very healthy parents lose height as they age so it does happen and you have no proof that your loss of height isn’t age related. You are the same age as my mum who has been shrinking every year. It’s a natural side effect of aging.

Nobody forced you to have surgery. You chose. Didn’t you know the risks? Didn’t you investigate? Every body is different, therefore results are varied. Unfortunately for you, the results weren’t in your favour. No need to yell with you bolded font.

I need a hip replaced but after a painful knee replacement I think I will live with it

 

He just had his third booster. His clots must be huge by now.

 

I had to have both hips replaced, one in 1999 and the other in 2000. Both are now a little worse for the 20+ years of extensive wear they've received while blacksmithing and remaining very active.

I was lucky enough to have a great surgeon and have heard from people who have both knee and hip replacements that knee replacements are more painful than hip replacements.

Two pieces of advice I can give that are universally true regarding all joint replacements are:

1. Don't do dumb stuff
2. Follow post-op instructions and physical therapy routine exactly or you'll really screw yourself up.

For what it's worth from a well intentioned, "scratch-and-dent" fellow forum member, I would live with the hip pain until it significantly impairs your quality of life, find a good Dr., have the surgery, follow post-op & P.T. instructions and you should get about 20 pain free years out of your new hip.

I'm sorry to hear that it hurts but I'm not surprised.

If it's your right hip, you may want to carry your wallet in another pocket. You'd be surprised at how many cases of back and hip pain are caused by storing a wallet full of photos, credit cards etc in your back pocket.

Also, be careful with those N.S.A.I.D. (NonSteroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs) which are rough on your stomach, kidneys and other internal organs.

I'm sure that you're already aware of all the other commonsense precautions and hope you find other ways to stay as pain free prior to surgery as possible.
