AOC Says Capitalism Is ‘Irredeemable’ But Sells $58 ‘Tax the Rich’ Shirts

New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is back at it, proving again that so-called “democratic” socialists have no idea what they’re talking about.

On Tuesday, the New York congresswoman promoted some of her official campaign merchandise on Twitter, including, quite hilariously, a $58 “Tax the Rich” sweatshirt.”

AOC is a total and complete hypocrite. If progressives didn’t have double standards they’d have no standards at all. She’s using capitalism to sell a sweatshirt with a tax the rich message that only the rich can afford to buy.

 

She will undoubtedly sell many of them to the mindless twits that follow her.

 

And then claimed Republicans don't understand what it is to have to work hard..................oh the gall of her. I'm a conservative independent who mostly supports Rep policy and their candidates so I guess I would qualify a member of that group she is trying to slam. I wonder if she knows what it's like to unload by hand boxcars of lumber in July in the South. To install doors and windows and place insulation. Or to work in the shipyard in the cold of winter with no place to hide from the cold in a steel ship. The arrogance she shows by her statements and in fact bigotry which is so apparent.

Oh being yelled at about mixing up a drink order is SO worse than 20 degrees on a steel deck all day with no protection from the wind trying to run ventilation over 7 decks. I didn't know I had it so easy.

 

She's never recommended abolishing capitalism. Like most Americans who call themselves "socialist" she wants a mixed economy, like the "socialist" democracies of Western Europe.

 

That would well describe all of her followers...

 

We already have a mixed economy and don’t need or want it to be more mixed toward socialism.

 

And that's your business. But there's nothing hypocritical about her selling shirts.

 

It’s my belief/opinion. No, there’s nothing hypocritical about her selling the sweatshirts. The hypocrisy was charging so much for them that only the rich could afford to buy a shirt advocating for taxing them more.

 

How is that hypocritical? Providing affordable clothing is a fine thing to do, but there's nothing wrong with selling more expensive things, especially if you are looking to make money.

A capitalist operates in a free market using legal transactions. Donald commits loan fraud, tax fraud, uses extortion, defaults on debts and contracts, and embezzles his own businesses. Not capitalism. Criminalism.

 

They have competitors. Competitors who charge overly high prices do not last very long. People start buying the competitors products including from foreign competitors.

If you don't want them stealing American jobs, you need to reduce the cost of doing business in the US. A major cost of doing business in the US is corporate taxes. Which county do you support when you drive US corporations out of business.

 

Trump's failure to get a Stimulus passed earlier, is gonna cost America much much more in the long run

 

no, we just need to increase the cost of them doing business with the USA via Tarrifs, Trump got that part right

we also need to make it more expensive for American corporations to use foreign outsourcing

we do not need American to become a 3rd world country to compete

declare foreign outsourcing of IT to India a national security threat, that will bring home many jobs

the alternative is we become a socialist nation like China... is that what we want?

 

If we increase the tariff on their products, they increase the tariffs on US products. Trump "got it right" in an effort to make the tariffs equal, not increase them all.

In other words, raise prices. Because that is what those lead to. Which makes them less competitive.
