According to the AP, old people are cranky old job stealers.

Pssst! Hey AP! Haven't you wondered why there isn't enough jobs for both the young and old or why older people have to stay in the workforce longer than previous generations? Hmmmm? Well have you?

Next the AP will call rich people greedy, Oil companies evil, Republicans racist and Bush the second coming of Hitler.

    LMAO!

Will Surge of Older Workers Take Jobs From Young?

If you can't retire, you hold onto the job you have.

No mention of the jobs taken by 30 million illegal aliens? Hmmm wonder why. Doesn't fit w/ AP's war on the elderly, trying to push Grandma over the cliff...

Fifty years of excessive taxation prevented them from saving up enough money to retire.

So first you attack the idea that older people should retire....then you want them to retire but blame Obama because they can't?

    Taxcutter says:
They could have done better themselves.

Don't forget the dead loss caused by free stuff for moochers. SNAP, Section Eight Housing, Obamaphones, energy assistance. etc

What are you talking about? With the Reagan and Bush tax cuts, they should be retiring in droves.

Oh yeah, those mostly benefited the richest, who could retire anyway.

Oh, yeah? How were they doing BEFORE Social Security? When the elderly were THE poorest demographic in this country?

BTW, you said "fifty years of excessive taxation".....make you a deal. Let's go back to the tax rates of SIXTY years ago under Ike? How about that?

    :)

"It's an assertion that has been accepted as fact by droves of the unemployed: Older people remaining on the job later in life are stealing jobs from young people."

That is the full quote. They aren't the ones saying it, they are presenting what some unemployed are thinking. If you are going to present something, make sure the quote is in context. It is a story written about the perception, but they even bring up an economist that says it has no facts behind it.

    Comprehension is key

Yes, we mean those. Privatized gains among all citizens would be much better than the government stripping peoples of their hard earned economic labor and then giving a "portion" of it back.

It's a Ponzi Scheme that robs the worker of his benefit, in the attempt of extrapolating the value over the long haul.

A dog can't live on that comfortably. The cost of living is more than anyone expected it to be, and the cost of health care is idiotic, just exactly what is your point?

The question is, why are old people better employees than young one's?

Old people are costly burdens on society. Obama should get rid of them. But wait! His Obamacare death panels are doing that already.

And here I thought we had such a crappy HC system all the older folks were dying off in droves. Well, maybe if all the obese young folks die off it will equal out. Who knows.

You quoted the first sentence; here's the second:

One problem, many economists say: It isn't supported by a wisp of fact.

    And here's the article's conclusion:

...economists say the larger macroeconomic view gives a clearer picture: Having older people active and productive actually benefits all age groups, they say, and spurs the creation of more jobs. Munnell and Wu analyzed Current Population Survey data to test for any changes in employment among those under 55 when those 55 and older worked in greater numbers. They found no evidence younger workers were losing work and in fact found the opposite: Greater employment, reduced unemployment and yielded higher wages.

I think you misunderstood something, or maybe you only read the first sentence.

I'd have to disagree with you on your reason. People who are looking to retire typically have investments. Stocks are up 150% from recession lows, over 100% since Obama took office. With those strong numbers, more people are retiring now, which is why you're seeing labor force participation rates stay low.

Ah your old shtick is back! Lets just forget that Obama extended the "Bush Tax cuts" but let the blame for said cuts land just on Bush and not the man that extended them.

You sir are a one trick pony.

    - - - Updated - - -

Or that people are giving up looking for work. That could be a factor as well but why mention that eh buddy? ;)

Just partially and temporary. The Bush tax cuts were repealed in part last year.

You sir are a broken record.

    - - - Updated - - -

Because that number has been decreasing. But why mention that eh buddy? ;)
