    Interesting analysis.

I will call it the Preponderance of Caution excuse, or the Pandering to the US Government (Pentagon) maneuver.

Apple has made its own share of lawlsuits. They have been attacking samsung in court FOR YEARS saying the galaxy tab looks to much like the Ipad, despite the fact they are made of different materials and have different aspect ratio's. I dont see how MS is borrowing the feel of mac OS either. Windows 8 looks nothing like it. Apple is pretty butt headed today, wasn't to long ago that microsoft actually saved them from bankruptcy and destruction though.

The British and American products DID impress the 1980's youth. At the same time, the Soviet youth learned to recognize the United States as an enemy.

Few products are made in the United States anymore.

Coca-Cola tastes like sh!t these days.

American and British music is, let's face it, mostly African.

America is not flying around in outer space anymore, it is dropping bombs on babies.

The 1990's Russian youth learned to think of the United States as an impressive, admired competitive adversary.

I am not sure what 00 and 10 youth will think.

Iranians are unlikely to be impressed by US products. For one, there are not many US products of quality. For two, the US refuses to provide the few products which are of quality... with the exception of the spy drone and virus software.

I would have preferred if the United States would be a humble partner with Russia, a friend of Iran, and while being the strongest friend carry the biggest stick.

Yes, Apple has become litigious itself -- although those are not the best examples. The trademark is iPad and aspect ratio is kind of a silly distinction when considering look and feel. Microsoft did not save Apple from bankruptcy. Apple approached Microsoft and proposed a settlement of the lawsuit about the look and feel issues of the original windows operating system that had been ongoing since the early windows days.

The settlement was significant in that Apple could discontinue it's expensive legal defense of it's trademark look and feel without being said to have not defended it and also in that Microsoft promised to continue support for key software such as Microsoft Office for Mac and Explorer for Mac for a limited time. Microsoft had suggested it would discontinue these products and Apple had not yet introduced equivalent ones, if that functionality had become unavailable under the Mac OS it would have had a significant effect on Apple's hardware sales.

But yes Apple has become litigious in defending it's intellectual property. Children who are hit, often become adults who hit. It's a sad cycle based on fear and insecurity.

MS didn't help apple out because of apples lawsuits. They had the resources to just wait out apple sinking. Apple at the time was losing 700 MILLION dollars a year, and they only had 2 billion in assets left. you can do the math...
Microsoft helped them out because at the time, Jobs and steve were fairly friendly, and more importantly, without apple i the picture, microsoft would have likely been broken up by the government for violating anti trust laws (without apple, Microsoft would have been 100% of the desktop market). So MS bought 150 million dollars of NON VOTING shares, (non voting, just to show apples customers that MS was not interfering), it was that boost that brought investor confidence back to apple, and gave Jobs the capital to develop products like the ipod that made the company even stronger than before.

Another part of the deal was Apple getting microsoft office, which even apple admitted was the best of its kind. In exchange for this, apple made Internet explorer the default browser on macs, which made IE the dominant browser for several more years (and it still is, but not by much).
Here is the video of the press conference. Listen to how many fanboys clap for the man that shut down all philanthropic donations by apple permanently, and boo the man who has given billions to charity by himself.

The video was interesting to watch. I saw that keynote, actually almost all of Steve's keynotes, from the front row. He was great pitch man. A great man period.

Microsoft did not save Apple from bankruptcy. That settlement deal was complicated. As indicated by the patent items being listed first, it was primarily a settlement deal. But it addressed a lot of concerns both companies had. Apple got a lot of things out of it, so did Microsoft. It was a win-win.

The 2% bump in revenue Apple got from Microsoft and locking up that stock from trading was useful. As you pointed out, it had to be non-voting stock because of Microsoft's SEC concerns. Shutting down a lot of unfocused research, inefficient distribution, uninspired promotion, and unprofitable donations and investments also helped.

Anyway, we're a bit off topic. My point is just that Apple's had to fight hard over the years and if they are being overly cautious in avoiding one more fight, it's not because of any institutional prejudice. I'm sure that woman has an iPad and an apology by now. Policies will likely be reviewed and adjusted where possible.

HA...HA...HA.....How is your AIDS ridden Ukraine doing? Still having fun making believe like you are your own country while really Russian still runs your country? You know exactly what I was talking about and it's not America, which is not even close to falling apart as much as your basement existence wishes it was so you could masturbate to it's demise.

If only we could go back in time and erase the person who handed you a Rage Against the Machine album when you were younger. Or maybe because odds are that your mom and father are dead, or died at a young age, you need to feel like you need to validate your existence by crapping on America because we couldn't be Jesus Christ and save all of the former Soviet blocks from cannibalizing themselves on top of getting pounded by the crumbling Soviet Union. What ever it is, you aren't clever, you aren't funny. Most of the people on this forum that support you, if they talked out loud the way they do here on this forum in America would most likely get their butts handed to them. You aren't very liked here and your time on this forum is probably going to be short.

    ;) Have a good day.
