This question came up today and I thought it was interesting, Are they? Do they advertise guns, body armor, potential tools of terror in violent gun-based video games? I have no idea.
If anything that onus would fall on the video game developers not the gun manufacturers. And primarily parents who don't take responsibility for what their children are up to. It's not Bushmaster's fault that 12 year old kids are running around shooting each other in Call of Duty online while screaming over voice chat about how they're going to bang your mom. There are video game ratings for a reason and if parents refuse to acknowledge them then that's their problem. 12 year old little Billy who calls you a myriad of 4 letter words after blowing your head off in Call of Duty couldn't buy that game for himself, his parents bought it for him even though the game is clearly rated M for Mature 18+.
In short, yes. the longer version can be read here: https://gunindustryaccountability.org/marketing-guns-to-children/
Video says otherwise. The video is rather schizophrenic. Trying to decide if gun ownership is declining or on the rise.
Gun manufacturers pay for it. And the rest is arm waving. So the answer is yes and I clearly hit a nerve.
Not at all. Many people who are not fanatics are giving up their guns in light of the national crisis. At the same time, the gun manufacturers need new customers so they go after children like big tobacco did. It wasn't confusing at all.
Prove your first claim.... I'm sure we will wait.... And then wait some more. And your opinion is just an opinion
A republican politician. WoW!!! Republican politicians certainly appear to be marketing to children!!! Look at the fire in the eyes of that kid on the left in the green sweatshirt He wants to rock. Kill! Kill!!!
First you would need to define what you define as "many".... And then offer up even a shred of evidence
The answer is clearly no. If I manufacture a product that is clearly labeled for adult use only by the ESRB and you decide to ignore that and buy it for your pre-teen that isn't me marketing my product to your kid that's you being an irresponsible parent...
I don't see much marketing of violence. Given the organization's name I don't really expect an impartial report.
so that they can be auctioned off you know that right. Yeah you're right it's not confusing at all it's a lie. I think it was 2019 to 2021 there are 6 million new gun buyers industries not hurting it's booming.
There you go! Not to sound patronizing but without reservation, you've nailed this! It's now up to parents to just say NO to marketed video game weapon violence.
He's a early teen, just trying to look "cool". I'd guess if more kids had involved adults teaching kids of these ages the proper safety and handling of a gun we'd have less accidental shootings and possibly even few mass shootings.
the "study" you cited comes from a group called the Violence Policy Center. This group is perhaps the most dishonest anti gun propaganda organ going- Its founder was thrown out of the Brady campaign to ban handguns because of his extremism. He told the medial-35 years ago-to deliberately confuse the public by pretending that semi auto rifles and machine guns are the same thing. Where does anyone see gun advertising? main stream tv? NOPE.
giving up your legally own guns because of what a mass murder does is akin to asking a doctor to remove your penis because some rapists victimized women.
They are probably well treated in safety. No fingers on triggers, muzzles pointed in safe direction of only more kids were lucky enough to have parents train them in this way.
I was on the Junior national shooting team (ISU Skeet). The training camp I attended had 12 or so skeet shooters, 12 or so trap shooters, a bunch of air rifle/small bore shooters and air pistol shooters. this was 43 years or so ago. TO the best of my knowledge, not one of those youth shooters ever had trouble with the law.
